Drupal/PHP Developer
LOCATION: GateWay Community College | 108 N. 40th Street | Phoenix, AZ 85034
HOURS: 40 hours per week
Scheduled to begin July 2, 2012 to June 30, 2013
Monday – Thursday Summer Schedule 7/1/12 – 8/3/12 & 5/11/13 – 6/30/13
Monday – Friday Fall/Spring Schedule 8/4/12 – 5/10/13
PAY RATE: $23.23/hour (No Benefits)
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
This position requires working with internal clients and marketing staff for the purpose of developing websites and web applications to meet current college needs. It is responsible for turning design and user interface mockups into functional websites, custom programming and web application development, troubleshooting of existing college sites, contributing ideas and efforts toward internal projects and working as part of a team to find solutions to various problems. The Developer must be able to address HTML and scripting compatibility issues between different browsers, monitor industry trends, technologies, and standards and be able to research, recommend, and apply new technologies as necessary. This is a temporary position; applicants will be required to re-apply for a permanent position if posted.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
60% Design, develop and test websites, web applications and databases
30% Administration of web servers, applications and user support
5% Research new technology and advice on new opportunities
5% Performs related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computing studies, information technology or web development.
Minimum 1-2 years of Drupal programming experience
Proficient in Drupal, including custom module development, key contributed modules and the core API, CCK, Views
Proficient in PHP, ideally within a Microsoft IIS, Apache, MySQL/MSSQL environment
Proficient in SQL, relational databases and MySQL/MSSQL
Proficient in JavaScript and familiar with major JavaScript libraries
Proficient in the maintenance and administration of Drupal modules and sites
Proficient in hand-coding HTML, XML and tableless CSS
Proficient in knowledge of using templates to theme components
Experience integrating free software and third party applications into existing systems
Experience with browser compatibility issues for all platforms/major browsers
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Fireworks, Flash)
Experience working on a Mac platform
Ability to work within existing infrastructures
Ability to communicate and work well with others
Ability to work independantly, show a willingness to learn and use problem-solving skills
Ability to manage projects with minimal supervision
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Master’s degree in computer science, computing studies or information technology.
· Involvement in and contributions to the Drupal community
· Familiarity with revision control systems such as CVS and Subversion
· Experience enhancing the performance of high-traffic sites
· Experience with AJAX or jQuery
· Working knowledge of basic TCP/IP network architecture
and internet protocols (HTTP/S, SMTP, POP & FTP)
· Experience with SharePoint
· Experience with SiteMax Chat or similar chat programs
· Experience with creating databases integrated with a CRM
· Experience with online digital media including HD video and digital compression technologies
· Knowledge of ASP.NET
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Long periods of sitting in front of a computer monitor
May be required to work evening and/or weekend hours
