Company:
Volt Athletics is a Seattle based startup that seeks to enable sports teams to implement elite-level strength and conditioning programs using web-based tools. We have developed a website that generates individualized, sport-specific training programs using sophisticated algorithms and data models. The website is now in beta phase.
This is a unique opportunity to get in at the ground level of a dynamic startup that uses innovative technology to bring strength and conditioning to sports teams that could not afford or otherwise would have no access to it. You will be the first employee hired by Volt Athletics, and because of that, you will get a large amount of autonomy in your work. You will be an integral part of the company from day 1, and your decisions and opinions will have a direct impact on the direction of the company from a technical perspective.
We are looking for someone who wants an opportunity to work with a fantastic team to build something special and successful, and hopefully get a big payoff for doing so.
Responsibilities:
Our website core platform is Drupal 7. In this role, you will be doing a lot of everything: web development, coding of custom modules, tech arch/environment management (we use Amazon Web Services), testing, deployments, web design, mobile app development, etc. Because this role entails such a wide variety of skills, we understand that there are few people who are experts in all these areas. One of the main qualities we are looking for is a drive and hunger to self-learn and excel.
Culture:
We are a small, close-knit team right now of the two founders and a couple independent contractors. We keep the mood light and are known to take a long lunch to catch a mid-day Euro Cup game or the NCAA tournament. It’s not a requirement to be a diehard sports-fan but you have to be comfortable working in an office with protein shakes in the fridge and the occasional football play on the white-board. While we like to have fun, we take our work extremely seriously, which means working hard and often working long hours.
Location:
Our office is located on the water in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, a block away from the Google and Adobe offices. The office has free parking right outside, rooftop deck (with a grill) overlooking Lake Union and the best lunch spots in the city a short walk away (Paseo, Uneeda Burger, Royal Grinders, etc). Some telecommuting is possible, but we will need you on-site.
Requirements:
• Good fit with the company and a passion and belief in the product/vision
• Ability to self-motivate, be proactive and work independently
• Passion for seeking out and learning new technologies
• 2+ years development experience
• Demonstrable understanding of web technologies (Drupal, PHP, MySQL)
Nice to Haves:
• Skills in UI development and user experience design
• Mobile app development experience
Compensation:
Solid salary that pays the bills, healthcare benefits and a generous stock options package.
