Our meeting last month in the Balboa Park Hall Of Champions went splendidly! Here's what's coming up for this August meeting:
Recap of Last Month
I wasn't there last month due to temporary blindness (kidding, I had to wear an eyepatch for a couple weeks), so I can't comment on how things went. sorry, no review this time! :)
Coming Up For This Month's Meeting
We'll start off with a rousing round of Lightning Talks!(40min) again this month. For the first half hour of our evening, everyone should come prepared to discuss a recent Drupal thought, observation, or experience that takes five minutes or less to talk about. You can teach us something, wonder out loud why X doesn't work like you think it should, or ask questions about some Drupally thing you're struggling to understand. The only rule for Lightning Talks is that you're going to be stopping at five minutes whether you're done or not. Other than that's it's fair game, so have fun!
Site Demo (15-20min) Mike Shannon (bestrank) will be featuring his site this month, http://bambooandtikis.com as an in-depth how-does-it-work, and how-is-it-built session. If you'd like to get your Drupal-powered site featured as a Site Demo next month, leave a link in the upcoming site demos wiki. :)
Developer & Themer Secrets (30min each) We're running a poll again in order to determine what people would like to hear about for this month's topics. Up for grabs are "Make Your Own Local Testing Site" by Rich Yumul, and "Project Pricing, How Do You Do It?", a moderated multi-person panel discussion. Go vote, and help us pick which topics will help you learn the most about building your next Drupal site!
Networking + in depth Q&A (30+ min)
We're going to go for 2.5 hours again this time instead of our regular two hour meetup. The last 30+ minutes of the meeting can be spent in socializing, networking, and Drupal Q&A. If you heard something in a Lightning Talk that intrigued you, seek that person out and get more details! If you have a vexing Drupal Dilemma that just can't be solved by mere mortals, ask someone to assist you with finding a solution. Need to hire some Drupal talent? This would be the place to find them. And if you are a "Drupal Talent" break out your business cards and start networkin'!

Next Month's needs
Site Demo We need a volunteer to present a 15 to 20 minute talk on a website that you're either currently working on or have just launched. Tell us why it's cool, how you did it, and point out any special features that might be different from a regular old DOOB site. (That's Drupal Out Of Box for you uninitiated folk). Volunteer your site in the upcoming site demos wiki!
Developer & Themer Secrets If you want to volunteer to present a topic next month, or if you just have a cool idea you wish someone would talk about, please add a line to the presentation topics wiki
We'll run the poll again next month and let attendees choose their favorite topic of learned interest from among all the available volunteer teachers.
