We are a 187-year-old family of newspapers in Northern Ohio that is determined to provide a bleeding-edge selection of news and information sites to its community. We are currently running 5 Drupal sites (up from none two years ago) and will triple that number over the coming year. We are already taking advantage of the multisite features of Drupal to streamline theming and user handling. Over the next year we will push the envelope in multimedia applications, e-commerce applications, content recommendation, community management, and probably some other stuff we haven't thought of yet. Our efforts so far have been rewarded by major audience growth — our online, survey-measured audience is now within 20% of our print audience, which has a penetration of 65%.

We prize creativity and independence. As the new programmer/developer, you will work as a team with another programmer and our designer, as well as managing projects with external developers. You will also work directly with journalists to develop a compelling environment for news and information. And you will collaborate with developers at sister companies across the country.

Each of the 12 newspapers and 10 radio stations owned by our parent company is aggressively expanding online. We offer big-company opportunities with small-company agility and freedom. If you are interested in creating the future of journalism while living next door to Cedar Point and the Lake Erie Islands, you should apply.

The position is salaried with full benefits. Base pay will be based on experience and ability. Required skills include PHP, MySQL, and Drupal expertise.
