hesketh.com is hiring a Web Developer to help us make the Internet better! Our agency creates online marketing strategies and builds websites for non-profits and mission-based companies — clients like the Girl Scouts, Duke University, and a company that cleans up oil spills.
Summary:
To borrow from Joel Spolsky of Fog Creek, we hire smart people who get things done. We’re committed to creating positive outcomes from our work. Our culture rewards openness, initiative, teamwork, learning, and a commitment to making us a better company. We’re the kind of place where former employees refer new employees to us, and where past clients come back for more. We’re proudly boutique, not a Drupal sweatshop.
You aren’t just building web apps to make the world a better place — you have an equal voice in building a better place to work. As one of the oldest web agencies in business (May 1995), we pioneered industry standards like Progressive Enhancement, but we aren’t sitting on our laurels.
You probably have other skills beyond Drupal and PHP, whether it’s developing mobile apps, leading a dev team, or working in Ruby on Rails. Your outside interests might include a side project, maintaining a contrib module, or something that doesn’t involve a command line at all.
Skills-
must-haves:
Drupal 6.x and 7.x dev expertise, including Apache, MySQL, and PHP, plus svn and/or Git
Front-end development expertise, including CSS, XHTML, jQuery/JavaScript, and AJAX
Leading and serving as a member of a dev team, and liking being part of a tech team
You have a handy “toolkit” of ways to find solutions to new problems
Agency experience, including billable hours and concurrent projects
nice-to-haves:
Some bonuses might include a Salesforce.com integration or two, knowing how development and whitehat SEO go together, or iOS development
Location:
The ideal candidate will work in our Raleigh, NC, office (a restored 1890s loft-style mill building that one client said looks like something from a TV show) but we’ll consider a 100% remote (telecommuting) arrangement for the right candidate.
Next Steps:
Does this sound like the work you want to do, and the place you want to do it? Please apply!
