Full-time Position at InterVarsity’s National Service Center (NSC) – Madison, WI

Looking to use your skills for something more?

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is looking for someone to assist in building and maintaining several (approx. 40) Collegiate Ministries websites. (And longer term to also consult and assist in planning and building the new Virtual Ministries Department.)

An ideal candidate would have a balanced understanding of both backend and front-end Drupal development, along with a firm understanding of Information Architecture.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and maintain web applications and support InterVarsity web sites and services:

  • Work with Campus Web Professional to build, maintain and improve websites and online tools for Focused Ministries and Virtual Ministry Departments
  • Participate on the Campus Web Team to accomplish the mandate of greatly expanding the web-based campus ministry
  • Work with the Virtual Campus Ministry Director and the Campus Web Professional to develop creative strategies for implementing Virtual Ministry
  • Assist with the project planning and the design and implementation of new ministry sites
  • Maintain documentation, files, statistics, web systems and services
  • Participate in preparations and deployment of a new generation of web and communications solutions

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Raise $8,000 -- $12,000 per year in personal financial support, and develop a network of prayer support
  • Annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Faith
  • Bachelor’s / Associate’s degree in Information Technology or related field
  • 2-3 years related experience (preferred)
  • At least two years full-time work experience with InterVarsity or other nonprofit organization (preferred)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a diverse team environment
  • Ability to handle all matters in a confidential manner
  • Evening and weekend availability for special projects
  • Desire to learn
  • Passion for ministry and technology
  • Understanding of social networks (preferred)

A working knowledge of these technologies/skills:

  • Mastery of (x)HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
  • Drupal site building
    • Theming
    • Configuration
  • PHP (preferred)
  • Linux/Unix, Apache, MySQL, JavaScript and other open-source solutions (preferred)
  • Understanding of web usability, design, development, testing and security (preferred)
  • Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) (preferred)
