Citysquares.com, a growing Internet company in Boston’s South End is seeking to fill a 6 month web developer contract with the potential of continuing full-time. In this role, you will be responsible for the front-end development and engineering of the website, including building the next generation of the site and ongoing maintenance of the site. You will also work on a variety of projects, ranging from site feature upgrades, to new product implementations with a focus on building smart, usable workflows that utilize the best technology available. Most of the current work involves XHTML, CSS, AJAX/JavaScript, PHP, Drupal CMS and UI/UX improvements as well as API integration. You will collaborate with product management to create realistic schedules, diagnose and fix bugs and design components as necessary. A portfolio of work is required. Principal Responsibilities
The work will be varied, but will include:
• Assist development of robust web user interfaces for new projects
• Work with existing systems to improve upon usability issues.
• Translating design comps into HTML/XHTML pages
• Work with the lead engineer to integrate back-end code
• Ensure development standards, best practices and site technical quality are met and maintained.
• Research new technologies; contribute to product development idea set and execution plans.

Experience and Requirements
• XHTML and CSS expert
• Ajax/JavaScript expert
• PHP proficiency
• Template languages (i.e. Smarty, PHP-template)
• MySQL and database schema knowledge.
• General knowledge of Fireworks, Photoshop and Illustrator
• Drupal CMS
Knowledge of API's and implementation
• XML a plus
• Frameworks (MVC) a plus
• Knowledge, experience with source/version control systems and structured deployment practices a plus
• Must be results driven and goal-oriented.
• Working knowledge and experience and with the Internet, especially Internet community and social media sites and concepts.
