The Independent Communicators Alliance is looking for a college intern to assist with drupal development for icatriangle.org. Alas, this is small non-profit without paid staff, so this is an unpaid internship. But it's a great opportunity to do some drupal development and make connections with professionals in marketing, PR, design and editorial in the Triangle. Internship includes an associate membership in ICA.

The site in question is icatriangle.org.

The internship would entail:

-Working with a team including a web designer, information architect and editor to review site functionality and design and plan appropriate changes

-Researching and configuring new modules to extend the functionality of the website. Functionality may include eNews/eMail lists, event rsvps, social media, avatars, galleries.

-Adding and configuring new sections/pages to the site, e.g. a Board of Directors page, Sponsoring Members page, blog/articles area

-Adapting theme to our content

-Basic maintenance, i.e. keep drupal and modules up to date and make backups

-Research new web hosts and migrate site to new host (we are currently on a sloooooow budget host)

The ideal intern would already have some familiarity with drupal and with system administration, and be willing and able to research and problem-solve in areas that s/he is still learning. PHP/Unix experience not necessary but certainly a plus if you have it. We are primarily in need of someone to help with the website, however, if an intern was also interested in design, content development, non-profit development, marketing/pr or event management, we also have tasks in those areas and have flexibility to adapt the internship to include other areas. If you are a professor who needs a real-world project for a student or class we would also like to hear from you.

U.S. residents only, please. Candidates from NC Triangle colleges/universities strongly preferred.

Please contact claire at redberetdesign (d0t) com if you're interested.
