Title: Drupal Programmer – contract assignment

Contract Assignment: 10-15 hours per week, for up to three months

Location: Boulder, CO…may not need to be on-site

The National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON, Inc.), a non-profit science corporation dedicated to understanding how changes in climate, land use and invasive species impact ecology. We are currently planning the NEON project - an observatory comprising more than 60 atmospheric, environmental and biological monitoring experiments distributed throughout twenty domains across the United States, Hawaii, Alaska & the Caribbean, monitored and controlled in real-time from our headquarters in Boulder, Colorado. A leading-edge flexible cyber-infrastructure is being designed to support current and future needs of the Observatory.

Position Summary: Help with design and development of existing Drupal-based web site.

Responsibilities include:
1. Some basic redesign of existing site (primarily look and feel) using CSS
2. Development of searchable database for documents hosted on web site
3. Development of interactive materials using Flash and JavaScript
4. Incorporation of feeds from blogs, Twitter, and other sources into a functional platform
5. Some maintenance of backside of web site to improve user friendliness

Skills required:
1. Strong HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills
2. Proven experience working with content management systems, specifically Drupal
3. Strong Flash skills
4. Ability to incorporate outside programs such as blogs and RSS feeds, into items on existing web site
5. Ability to troubleshoot and identify solutions

Able to provide 1 - 3 samples of Drupal-based sites created or worked on.
