Looking for a job in Drupal is like visiting a candy store, I know, but most of these jobs are basically about building web sites to enhance your career and feed your family.

BOOOOORING!

I'm going to India next month to implement a complementary currency system for a UNESCO community called Auroville. Because I travel light, I can bring three interns with me and cover expenses. First two places are already taken. While we're there I want to rebuild the mutual_credit module, make it accessible from outside Drupal, make it compatible with scores of other systems, sex it up. If we have time Auroville also asked us to design an online democracy system.

A great many people are wringing their hands about the world economy but we are building the tools for a bottom-up economy and delivering them to the better-organised communities. We need whatever skills you have, whether it's AJAX, hosting, basic site building, web design, or more business-oriented skills like PR, sales, strategy.

Demand for these tools is growing and the software is not yet ready to meet it. A handful of implementations have taught us a lot and now the road ahead is straight and clear, but long and there will doubtless be surprises.

Until the project receives more interest from business or philanthropists there will be virtually no pay, but I will cover all living expenses and a good part of the transport costs. I require a verbal commitment of at least four months. Please write telling me
1. Why I should invest my time and money introducing you to the New Economics and possibly mentoring you professionally?
2. What skills and experience you can bring to the project?
3. What are your needs, material or otherwise?

The adventure starts October 1st!
