Reporting to the Director of Communications & Marketing, the professional in this position will perform as part of a creative team charged with developing and implementing a dynamic web site that will serve as an important marketing tool to build awareness of the University's reputation for quality academic programs among national and international audiences.

Job Summary:

The Associate Director for Multimedia Development will be an experienced professional who will be responsible for developing and maintaining the online communication and web marketing initiatives for the University. The professional in this position will have responsibility for multimedia development that blends graphic arts and media design with web technologies, especially Flash-based media and the production of marketing videos for the web to create and maintain a dynamic web-marketing tool.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Develop Flash-based content for the University's website, creating both new pages and revising existing web pages
  • Produce videos for the University's website and other media outlets
  • Work within the University's content management system to develop applications and content to promote the University
  • Provide backup and support for other web functions
  • Occasional evenings and weekend work for videotaping purposes

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of communication and standards in a web-based information environment
  • Experience with dynamic web-based applications and technology that delivers quality service to the University's web audiences
  • Experience with the principles of graphic design and interface design, especially mastery of Adobe Flash including extensive use of Action Script, plus a high level of proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat
  • An understanding of the Drupal content management system
  • Extensive experience with online video production including pre-production, production, post-production (Final Cut Pro Studio) and delivery for the web
  • Some web programming experience with PHP and database development with MySQL
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines and work in a diverse academic environment, especially troubleshooting and assisting others with basic computer issues using the Macintosh Operating system

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
  • At least four years of experience designing web interfaces using the latest technologies
  • Demonstrated success as a web interface designer in a complex web environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a higher education setting

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently sit, stand, stoop and walk
  • Occasionally travel on day trips
  • Occasionally lift or carry loads up to 25 pounds
  • Frequently reach repeatedly in any direction
  • Frequently utilize good hearing, good near or distant vision, good depth perception and good discernment between colors
