Responsibilities: This is a 1 year grant funded position with the primary objective being to manage the day-to-day operations of our website and provide internal strategic and technical support to staff. This position will not exceed the 1 year unless there is a renewal of the grant.

The Web Manager works in the Government Relations and Communications Department and collaborates with all departments to develop and maintain the Center’s website.

The Web Manager will oversee the Content Management System built on the Drupal platform and work as a key member of the Communications team to develop interactive tools for the Center’s website and online communications initiatives.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

* Managing all aspects of  the website using Drupal CMS
* Implement the technical components of web projects (i.e. Building functional “microsites” for advocacy projects, trouble shoot HTML crossover issues from our CRM –Democracy in Action – to our CMS. etc.)
* Code graphic design projects into HTML files (i.e. eNewsletter, new web blast templates, etc.)
* Address 404s/broken webpages
* Implement and maintain website enhancements, security/privacy policies, user accounts, access rights, passwords, etc.
* Responsible for search engine optimization (SEO), site accessibility issues, and other mechanics of good website management
* Help with the process of implementing new systems. 
* Provide technical support for problem resolution for staff and users of website 
* General website maintenance

Qualifications: This position balances technical and design skills to create polished, effective web pages and tools for online advocacy campaign launches and marketing initiatives.

Ideally, the Web Manager will also have basic developer skills that will allow for building dynamic web tools from the ground up, integrating web-based applications via programmatic APIs and coding new web interfaces for existing applications on the Drupal platform. The successful candidate must be able to thrive as a member of a small team in a fast-paced environment with opportunities to work on diverse projects.

The ideal candidate will have several of these preferred skills and characteristics:

* Bachelor’s degree
* Is fluent in Drupal 
* Is fluent in HTML and has technical experience with other website languages such as SQL queries, XML, CSS,  accessing server-side functions using PHP and mySQL protocols
* 3-5 years of website maintenance experience
* Strong knowledge of SEO standards
* Experience with content management systems, online communications, social networking applications, and current programming technologies
* Display good judgment and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks concurrently
* Strong organizational skills
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Good communication skills; ability to interact collaboratively with staff in an organization with diverse concerns and needs
* Ability to work independently, but also part of a team
* Ability to research, recommend and apply new emerging technologies 
* Experience in the nonprofit sector, and reproductive rights issues a plus

The following skills are not required, but are preferred:

* Design software experience and some design background
* Experience developing Flash 
* Experience developing APIs

Position Type: Full-time
