Dear Translations group members,
I'm new to this group and would like to carry out a discussion on the feasibility of facilitating Drupal translations by using a new translation system, http://www.translia.com. Full disclosure: Translia is based on Drupal and I'm a member of Translia team.
Translia is a crow translation website. It provides paid services to commercial translation clients and free services to community translation projects. Its major benefit is allowing a mass of community members to work on the same project, or even same document, without any management efforts. The outcome is, more participants, shorter turnaround and better quality.
In addition, there are thousands of professional translators on Translia. It's possible they support us on linguistic issues and even "donate" translations to the projects.
I sincerely invite you have a loot at http://www.translia.com and discuss how we may use it for Drupal translation projects. Thank you!

Quite like the idea of it..
Quite like the idea of it.. Ubuntu uses an open crowd system at launchpad by the way, which is truly open/transparent for obvious reasons..
Note that Proz.com has got a huge community and they are making some moves towards similarly selling services themselves
