The format of our meetups will consist of introductions, group business and announcements from our attendees, followed by one or two 'lighting talks' which are 5 minute presentations by those in attendance who would like to share a recent project release, a wonderful discovery of some new Drupal related resource.
Next will be a 45 minute to 1 hour presentation focusing on general Drupal concepts, Drupal best-practices, how to navigate the Drupal community and specific advanced Drupal site-building and deployment techniques.
It would be great to close the meeting with some raffle prizes if we can secure them.
This page will help us organize some topics we would like to see presented at our monthly meetups.
Here are some ideas for presentations:
- Drupal - From Zero to Hero in 1 hour: Demonstrate how a Drupal site is built from the ground-up including advanced capabilities. Watch an experienced Drupal site builder work at top speed while narrating the process.
- How the Drupal community works
- Intro the the Views module
- Intro the the Panels module
- Building online courses with Drupal - from course materials to quizzes.
- Theming Drupal - Omega vs Zen vs Zurb Foundation builder themes
- Working with Images
- Advanced site building: the Features module & Site Profiles
- Building a calendar of events in with Drupal
- Advanced: Aegir deployment of Drupal sites
- Frontend and backend Drupal performance and scalability
- Upgrading Drupal from one version to another (e.g. Drupal 6 to Drupal 7 or 8)
- (your idea here)
If time permits we can have open questions and answers where we put our heads together to stimulate new thinking on Drupal site building.
If you are a Drupal expert and have always dreamed of coming to Bakersfield, we would love to have you drop by and present. Contact erinclerico and I will get you on the calendar.
