File entity (fieldable files) provides interfaces for managing files. It also extends the core file entity, allowing files to be fieldable, grouped into types, viewed (using display modes) and formatted using field formatters. File entity integrates with a number of modules, exposing files to Views, Entity API, Token and more.
Since other modules often depend on File entity to do their job it is very important to have it available in D8 as soon as possible. This is a very important step in our efforts to make file/asset management on Drupal more standardized, powerfull and user friendly. powerfull
