We're excited to announce the next Drupal Commerce Meetup, on Tuesday, June 28, 2013, between 6-8pm. This is a new meetup and we meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month at a variety of venues.

We're meeting this time at Droplabs, a Drupal-friendly classroom, coworking space and makerspace near Downtown Los Angeles. Those interested in attending this meetup remotely are welcome to join us via WebEx.

At this Drupal Commerce meetup, we'll be continuing with the Commerce Module Tuesday videos that we introduced last time, and we'll demo and discuss the various modules covered by the series. We'll also cover recent news and events of interest that are happening in the Drupal Commerce world.

Do you have a request or an offer for additional presentations? Let us know by posting in the comments below. Thanks!

Agenda ^

Our meetups follow a basic format and start off with Drupal news and announcements, local job announcements, raffle prizes and full-length presentations. As always, we'll also have community Q&A, during which time anyone in attendance can ask questions, divine answers from the crowd and give brief, 5-10 minute-long presentations known as lightning talks. We'll finish off the night with more networking and a Drupal After Dark at 8:00pm.

For any changes to our agenda, stay tuned to this meetup announcement or click the Sign up button below (or both!) to be notified when the agenda has been updated.

Drupal After Dark ^

After the event is over, a group of us may go to a nearby restaurant or pub. In the past we've had beers and a bonfire and were serenaded by Skrillex, who was rehearsing next door for the Mothership tour.

We've also gone to a variety of other locations, including Barbara's at The Brewery (at 620 Moulton Ave., just a 5 minute walk away) and Carnitas Michoacan (on 1901 N. Broadway, just a 5 minute drive away).

About the Drupal Commerce Meetup ^

What is the Drupal Commerce Meetup about? We have presentations, case studies and roundtable discussions on all the things that make our Drupal-based ecommerce websites work, from payment handling, inventory management and shipping to adding social features that make our websites and applications fun to use. We cover all the systems that work with Drupal and have a primary focus on the open source Commerce framework.

This meetup is one of the Greater Los Angeles Drupal group's "traveling meetups" and occasionally travels from city to city and venue to venue. Would you like to host one of these in your area? Inquire within by contacting any of the Greater Los Angeles Drupal organizers with details about your venue, including parking and good happy hour / after party locations, and we'll follow up with you!

Would you like to organize one of these meetups in your area? Greater Los Angeles Drupal members and organizers are always welcome to request the use of the group's assets and resources for their meetups and events.

Sign up below to receive the meetup's date, time, location and WebEx instructions by email. An automatic email reminder will also be sent 1 day before the event.

Thanks to everyone who

Thanks to everyone who attended! Unsurprisingly, the most popular topic once again was the variety of differences between Commerce Kickstart 1 & 2. Here are some links to the videos and modules that we covered:

   Commerce Module Tuesday
   http://commerceguys.com/tags/commerce-module-tuesday

   Drupal Commerce Videos
   http://www.drupalcommerce.org/videos

Drupal Commerce Tax Introduction: Sales Tax and VAT
   http://www.drupalcommerce.org/videos/demo/drupal-commerce-tax-introducti...

In spite of our WebEx issues (one of our organizers — he will remain nameless for now — accidentally ended the WebEx meeting early… sorry about that!), we quickly picked up where we left off and tried assembling a Commerce-based store from scratch. The moral of the story is that using Commerce Kickstart saves an enormous amount of work.

Also discussed was a change to our meetup schedule and this particular meetup's format. The idea is that instead of having a meetup each month with a featured presentation, we may be switching to a Commerce roundtable format each month and then have a larger 2-3 hour meetup with curated presentations just once a quarter. Does anyone have any thoughts about this? Please post them here:

Thanks again, everyone!
