Web and Communications Specialist | Save the Bay
Save The Bay seeks a Web and Communications Specialist to manage implementations of new technologies and direct web development and online marketing activities to engage existing constituents, recruit new supporters, and increase online activism. Experience working in Drupal and Drupal modules is essential.
The Specialist leads Save The Bay’s website development, online marketing strategies, and online advocacy campaigns to achieve ambitious goals. The Specialist contributes to online fundraising and social networking and provides other support as necessary. The position also entails project management, designing web graphics, and copy-editing.
The ideal candidate has demonstrated success in leading online marketing campaigns for a cause-related organization with proven results, has outstanding web development and project management experience, and graphic design skills.
Reports to Communications Director.
Responsibilities:
-Manage Save The Bay’s Web site to attract and retain traffic
-Keep website current and fresh by managing content, look, feel, and function.
-Recommend and implement additions, changes, and upgrades, such as streamlined architecture, design and graphic enhancements, navigation improvements, additional tools, and new features that will help achieve the organization’s online goals.
-Design email templates and online actions for use in online advocacy campaigns.
-Design powerful and effective campaign graphics for use on- and off-line.
-Work with Drupal and Drupal modules, such as calendaring systems, photo galleries, news archives, and RSS feeds to enrich user experience and engagement.
-Manage and maintain online constituent database.
-Analyze and prepare monthly website statistics to track success of current features and inform ongoing web development efforts.
-Other responsibilities as assigned.
-Research, develop, and implement online marketing activities to grow Save The Bay’s online presence
-Engage online communities through unique strategies and campaigns to increase website traffic.
-Grow the "Bay Saver" e-newsletter list and increase open and click-through rates, leading to increased member activism, donations, and volunteers.
-Research and lead online marketing activities, including tagging, online advertising, viral marketing, and search engine marketing and optimization.
-Work with policy department to create compelling online actions.
-Assist communications team in expanding and integrating social networking efforts with existing and new technologies, including blogging, Facebook, Flickr, YouTube and others.
-Stay on top of new trends and research in online marketing and social networking.
-Assist development department in executing online fundraising campaigns.
-Develop online promotions for various Save The Bay programs.
-Analyze and prepare appropriate online metrics to track the success of current efforts and to inform future strategies.
Additional Qualifications:
-At minimum four years of experience in online marketing and website development for a nonprofit or cause-related organization.
-Demonstrated success in increasing web traffic and growing online constituencies, including segmentation strategies.
-Outstanding web development and production experience and complete command of current Internet technologies, protocols, and standards.
-Creativity and innovation in directing online marketing tasks to complement organization’s mission.
-Exceptional project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, complete projects on tight deadlines, and rapidly respond to new developments.
-Experience in online advocacy, community-building and fundraising, and other web marketing techniques, including online advertising, email outreach, social networking, and search engine marketing and optimization.
-Superior problem solving skills.
-Strong leader able to work independently with a minimum of direction.
-Able to generate and deliver persuasive and clear verbal and written communications.
-Excellent graphic design skills (especially for the web).
-Experience in effectively managing consultants, vendors, and project teams.
-Bachelor’s degree in communications, technology, or related field.
Required Technical Qualifications:
-Demonstrated experience in Macromedia Dreamweaver.
-Expert knowledge of HTML, CSS, Drupal and current web technologies and applications.
-Demonstrated knowledge of email marketing best practices and tools.
-Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, and InDesign.
