Welcome!

Hi! My name is Jerad Bitner, and I'm a Drupaholic...

After recently moving to Grand Junction I noticed there wasn't a local user group here. So, after sending out various twitter messages, I hooked up with Randy Fay who is local to the area and a Drupal Ninja. We met for lunch and discussed a few topics and thought we would try to get a local meet-up started. As part of that process, a new group for Grand Junction was created. I'm cross posting to a couple other Colorado user groups in hopes that their might be some members of those who are closer to this location and would like to participate.

Please introduce yourself and give us an idea of your interest in Drupal, your general location, and maybe your skill level so that we can try to come up with some good topics for when we have a meet-up and a venue that will work for everyone. Venue ideas, general discussions, questions, answers and complaints all welcome here!

We're shooting to have our first meet-up mid-November.

Thanks!

Grand Junction Drupal user group

Hi Jerad,
I am very interested in meeting you and joining Grand Junction's Drupal user group. I am a Drupal beginner. I have a Drupal-powered mashup website at http://johnwilkenson.com. My email address is john@johnwilkenson.com. I was referred by Rick Castellini of HelpMeRick.com who used to use Drupal for his website, but has since switched to WordPress. I would be EXTREMELY interested in finding a local Drupal resource who could give me some occasional private help and/or tutoring with my website. I would make it a point to be a regular attendee at Drupal user meetings in Grand Junction.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
John Wilkenson

I'm so glad you're interested and I would love to help you out! Maybe we can start by you posting your questions (if they're not too specific to your website) as new discussions in this group. That way everyone else who joins up can benefit from the knowledge we share.

Also, I'm totally an individualist! I've been reading Terry Goodkind for years before I learned why it was I was so attracted to the characters he portrayed. He's taken a lot of their character builds from the ideals of Ayn Rand. While I don't ascribe to some of her conclusions, the basic overall aspiration to truth and justice and life based on good solid reason is definitely something I do ascribe to. I think I'm going to have a good time reading through your site!

Yes! Was glad to see Group Established

Hi Jerad,

I am somewhat new to Drupal also, but have gotten addicted to the endless possibilities. Have been working on a concept for a site for several years and have found Drupal to be my answer to the programming of it. But finding anyone on the western slope that was proficient was yet another dilemma. So thank you for starting this group. I had wanted to but felt I didn't have the experience to be of much help to anyone. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help with meet-ups and the such.

Sincerely,
Todd Wellman

PS I too am enjoying reading through your site John!

Glad to be of service! And thank you for offering yours :)

One thing that would really help is to get a list of local places that are good to meet. I'm very new to the area, so maybe we should create a wiki here in order to start a list that people can add to. Oh, look! There it is ;)

Hey all, I've been doing

Hey all,
I've been doing Drupal development for the past 3 years for Blue Tent Marketing in Carbondale, but have recently gone into business for myself, mainly doing subcontract work for Blue Tent, but other things as well. I live in Paonia, so GJ is not too far. I have done quite a bit of module development, mostly with proprietary weather and MLS real estate systems, so they have not been contributed. I did contribute the Permalink module for D5.

I would love to get together at some point with other Drupal folks. There is a Western Colorado Drupal group. Perhaps we can merge this with that, although that one is centered more in the Carbondale/Roaring Fork area.

Cheers

When in doubt, go downhill.

I saw that there was a Southern Colorado group, but did not see a western one. I would not mind merging, for sure! Glad to have you on board!
