Social Workout Media is an eight month old start-up created by one of the two co-founders of successful design site ApartmentTherapy.com. Part blog, part exercise tracking utility, SocialWorkout.com is pioneering the intersection of the web with gym, yoga studio, and running path. Located in New York, global hub of health clubs (and yet death to all attempts at healthy living), we have strong financial backing, and are looking for versatile, talented web developer to join our small team.
The Job: Work closely with company founder and designers to build out existing PHP/Drupal site. The Lead Engineer will be intimately involved with all strategic development decisions, including application architecture, choice of coding frameworks and tools, and, eventually, hiring and managing additional tech team members.
The ideal candidate will have deep familiarity with all things LAMP, and will be comfortable with both front end and back end development. He or she will be fluent in PHP, as well as CSS, Javascript, jQuery, etc. Experience with Drupal ideal, as is appreciation for the quirks of CMS development and email publishing. In short, we’re looking for someone with real experience coding social media sites. Someone who enjoys a beautiful, simple GUI, and who might debate the relative merits of PHP vs. Python, but who can also debug a wonky HTML email….
