Drive to drupal camp austin

mrconnerton's picture

I was curious if anyone from NC / SC / East coast was interested or heading out to Drupal Camp Austin? It's only $40 to attend 2 days next weekend, but the trip is about 19 hours for us.

Would anyone be interested in saving some money and car pooling down and back? I would love to go but don't have a reliable vehicle to make the trip. I live in Asheville, NC.

From Asheville, NC to Austin,

From Asheville, NC to Austin, Tx will cost ~$200 in gas for the round trip.

Hotel across the street is $284 for 2 beds and sleeper sofa (plus my air mattress) / 4 = $71
Motel down the road is $160 for 2 beds (plus 2 air mattress) / 4 = $40

If we get 4 people in the car then the whole trip only cost $50 (gas) + $40 (registration) + $71 (Hotel) = ~$161 + dinner.

or for motel: $50 (gas) + $40 (registration) + $40 (Hotel) = ~$130+ dinner.

I figure leave early Friday, Drupal camp sat and Sunday, and then leave early Monday back home.

All that plus I might have gas investment for about $100 which would bring everyone's costs down even more.

Alright, my latest ballpark is if we have 4 people, costs per person would be:

$40 Tickets
$50 Gas Money
$50 Dinner
$45 Hotel

$185 Total

  • 2 days missed work since we will be driving all day Friday and Monday.

Obviously that will change slightly based on how much you want to spend on dinner.
