[20:00] 1. How would you describe yourself as a Drupal.org user?
[20:00] the site itself? or the product?
[20:00] The site Drupal.org
[20:01] erm, mostly I use it as a resource for 3 things
[20:01] 1.) Module research for customers
[20:01] 2.) Research about the main system (again usually for customers)
[20:01] 3.) And I'm beginning to look for potential clients there as well
[20:01] Great!
[20:02] So your a professional user
[20:02] an expert?
[20:02] erm... I've spent as much time as I can becoming knowledgable, but I'm still a long way from an "expert"
[20:03] I may have just started into Dries' "Ass kicking stage" just barely
[20:03] if you saw his graph
[20:03] Ok, great
[20:03] but my whole company uses it
[20:03] 2) How often do you visit Drupal.org?
[20:03] erm, multiple times a day
[20:03] even on weekends usually
[20:03] i'm hopeless
[20:04] 3) When you visit Drupal.org, how long do you spend on the site?
[20:04] average? an hour probably
[20:05] Great
[20:06] EclipseGc: In the first question, you layed out reasons for visiting Drupal.org. Would you describe those as your goals for visiting Drupal.org? Are there other goals?
[20:06] That's question 4.
[20:06] ok...
[20:06] goals...
[20:08] Do you want to go with the three you outlined already?
[20:08] I guess my goal is to satisfy my customers, I'm actually more into the sales end than anything else, I just like to be able to help my customers understand what they're getting. Having been a developer, I can do both, so I'd say my primary goal (daily) is to help meet my customers needs (and thus my own company's) and secondly, we (as a company) want to see drupal become really big, so a...
[20:08] ...goal would be to help facilitate that at some point one way or another, we're still discussing it in house
[20:09] great responses, very insightful
[20:09] Question 5. What is easy to do on Drupal.org?
[20:09] search through the modules (it's hard too, but that's because of the sheer number)
[20:10] but it's well organized, so pretty easy over all
[20:10] Great, any thing else easy to do?
[20:11] truthfully, I find a lot of the rest of the site kind of obtuse, I have to say I especially hate threaded forums
[20:11] Ok, can you give an example of finding things obtuse?
[20:13] sure, threaded forums is one, it's like having a dozen separate conversations on a page... so things can be hard to follow because people's replies aren't appended to the bottom, they're appended to a response, this is annoying. Additionally the handbooks are a really great resource, but I spent days looking for something that should probably have been in one place, but was filed in...
[20:13] ...another, and I ended up writing my own book page to fill that gap, and I just think that some more effort should go into consolidating that
[20:14] Question 6. What is hard to do on Drupal.org? You've given good responses already. Feel free to add more.
[20:14] I think I'm pretty happy with those answers
[20:14] -->| brannfenix (i=brannfen@ip68-230-133-70.ri.ri.cox.net) has joined #drupal.org-interview
[20:15] <--| brannfenix has left #drupal.org-interview
[20:15] Last question: Is there anything else important about Drupal.org that we haven't discussed?
[20:15] yeah... there is actually
[20:17] as a drupal based company (not completely, but heavily) it'd be really nice to have a bit more robust of an area to promote ourselves, and by proxie, drupal. I don't know if that should be a separate site, but I think it could definitely help you all. Perhaps some sort of rating system from other members of the community if they've used them (sort of like ebay)
[20:17] I dunno, just a thought
[20:17] :-)
[20:17] It's in the works, your interview helps
[20:17] Thanks for the feedback
