The Minnesota Historical Society seeks an experienced and innovative Drupal Web Developer to design, prototype, program, test and implement database driven web applications used by a range of audiences from elementary students to museum visitors to researchers. You’ll be one of the wizards behind our award winning web sites. You will work with a variety of people across the Society’s diverse organizational functions as well as fellow web development professionals - all energized to serve our educational mission. If your enthusiasm for technology is matched only by your passion for education, you’ll find that the joy of working with kindred spirits can only be matched by the thrill of helping people use information communication technologies to make a personal connection to the past. We’re looking for a progressive, highly-organized individual who can grapple with the details without losing sight of the big picture – someone who understands technology and its power, but who always keeps our organization’s mission, goals and deadlines first and foremost. You’re a born multi-tasker who understands priorities and project schedules, and is comfortable with change. You communicate efficiently and elegantly, and work collaboratively with team mates. This is a full-time, project position (2088 annual hours) located at the History Center in St. Paul, MN working through June 30, 2011. Renewal dependent upon available funding and program need.

Summary of work: Responsibilities include: 1) work with the Society’s staff to determine web site vision and requirements; 2) present and sell ideas to staff, develop and express concepts to ensure original vision of a web site is retained to its launch; 3) develop detailed prototypes and web interfaces for site applications; 4) program web sites using PHP, Drupal or other web development languages; 5) configure and manage LAMP environment; and 6) structure and execute test plans appropriate to the place in software development lifecycle.
