If you haven't been keeping an eye on http://drupal.org/project/modules you may have missed the recent postings by Nicolas Deschildre, who has released a dozen very nice components that were created for France24.com and Radio France Internationale. Easiest way top find them is through his profile: http://drupal.org/user/353500

A longer version of the France24 case study originally posted in this group is at http://drupal.org/node/614014.

Modules

Shh, that's a secret :)

Indeed, we have open sourced quite a lot of modules, but it is not finished yet, so I didn't make an announce yet. Plus I would like to write some doc first.
But you can start using them already, Uberimage, Easy View and Multimedia Element are some that I am proud of!

Docs?

What are docs? Real men don't ask directions! :-)

Multimedia Element install issue

pkcho's picture

I'm very excited to test the modules you contributed, but I am having problems getting the Multimedia Element to install.

The readme file states that the PHP maximum execution time needs to be increased, which I did. But even after doing that, I can get each of your contributed modules to install, except the Multimedia Element module. All the dependent files are installed...

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Joe

Hello, Well, could you

Hello,

Well, could you describe your issue a bit more? Do you get a blank page while installing? What's wrong?

Sure...

I am testing a site using an Open Publish install and was trying to throw your modules into the mix (in order to improve the image handling). I was attempting to install all of the modules (Easy View, Utilities, jcarousel, etc...) but when I went to save the changes I received a blank screen. After some troubleshooting, I discovered that I could get all the modules to install except the Multimedia Element. Even after increasing the maximum php execution time, I still get a blank screen. This is all being done from a local install using MAMP.

Unless I'm doing something completely wrong, I've noticed that after I get the other modules to install, I don't see any type of configuration settings for those modules (basically no evidence that those modules have installed, except that they are checked in the module administration page). My guess is that the Multimedia Element plays a big part in that package of modules?

Any insight you have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Ok, we fought with MAMP with one guy of our team, and MAMP... by default does not show PHP errors! I would be interested to get the PHP errors, if any, that you get in your log file.

Concerning the others modules, easy view, uberimage and CSV table are CCK fields so you will need to create a CCK field to get some configuration. The conf of formatter selector, embedded edit is on nodereference CCK field configuration page. Utilities, Jcarousel do not have any conf screen.

I will do some real doc once I have finished open sourcing everything, I promise :)

Thanks

I'm not afraid to admit that I need directions : )

I can wait for documentation. I'll look into the PHP errors as well.

Thanks for getting back to me.

A few more modules

A few more modules, maybe the last:

Part of the editor toolbox, search for content, DnD, embedded edit/view:

Manage external sources:
http://drupal.org/project/aef_external_sources

View/edit/delete remote nodes seamlessly. Good for e.g. sharing a collection of node images between instances. A big piece of the puzzle:
