Drupal 8 is near to Beta. One final Beta blocker patch is RTBC, one needs review. This is one of the last chances you will get to start with Drupal early and be well prepared.
Also a lot happened in contrib, but it's still a long way to go to have everything ready. That's why the next First Friday Contrib Sprint is coming up again!
Friday September 5th we will meet again to push Contrib Modules for Drupal 8.
Many contribs are well progressed. Others need polishing or feature completion to make everyone happy.
Less common module might need someone to start with.
Most importantly, there's room for new modules to happen with Drupal 8 and it's a good moment to start with your ideas.
This is a global initiative: Mobilize the Drupal companies in your area, get together, and create some great Drupal 8 modules.
You are welcome to join our team in the MD Systems office - we will help you to get started.
Recent work included modules like Simplenews, File Entity, Past
and polishing work from previous ports like Monitoring, Payment and related payment provider integrations, Sharemessage.
Also from previous sprints like Search API, Layout, Media, there are always tasks to complete.
Ah, and don't forget to bring your computer. ;-)

Presentation / Simplenews 13:30
Right after lunch i will test flight our presentation for the Contrib Module Update session about "Simplenews", together with Iwan. The module is well progressing and there are fancy things coming up. w0oT!

We're considering to extend
We're considering to extend the sprint to saturday, so that people who have to travel further or work on friday can join too.
