User group meeting
Western Slopers,
We'd agreed to meet on the third Thursday of each month. I would like to keep our momentum. In that spirit, I wanted to put out a call for topics of presentation. The event will be held at the Blue Tent Marketing Conference Room in El Jebel. Their offices are on the second floor of the building facing the entrance to MovieLand. Let me know who would like to present and the desired topic and I will put together the agenda.

Seth

preprocess functions, project management
Jeff and I have been talking about the use of preprocess functions as helpers that stand between modular business logic and data and front-end presentation. We could lead some discussion on the division of labor in Drupal (MVC) and what sorts of logic and functionality should reside where.
I would also be interested to hear from project managers about their tips and guidelines for successful projects, and/or would be interested in hearing from Solstice about practices they are employing in designing and planning long-term software projects.

@onelittleant -- the discussion about preprocess functions and division of labor in drupal development sounds interesting. I'd really like to get your thoughts on it. +1 for that.
As another option, I'd be happy to do an overview of the Panels module.

Hey team,
I'd like to do something on project managing long-term software projects, but I'm not going to be able to prepare for tomorrow (a consequence of project managing a long-term software project that is at a critical milestone). Could we perhaps slate that topic for Feb. meeting and cover Drupal MVC and Panels?

Panels and Preprocess
Sounds like panels and preprocess functions are both areas of interest. I'll put together some links and discussion for preprocess functions and would love to hear about panels from David. I will have the baby tomorrow, so I may have to cut it somewhat short or just kind of start things rolling.
