Drupal Developer + Mapping Experience | Cyclogram
We are a small communications and media firm headquartered in Los Angeles. We are currently looking for assistance on a particular project, but with an eye for someone to come and work for us full-time. You do not need to be in LA for either of these - our other developer is in Seattle.
We are creating a site in partnership with some pretty big players in the HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment space. In a nutshell, it's a place where people go to learn a bit about the current state of the epidemic, find a place to get tested, and make a public pledge to follow through with their test. For the v.1 release there is limited functionality and data, both of which will expand over time (this is a multi-year contract). The key technological challenge for us is mapping. We are going to get various datasets from the CDC and other sources (again, limited to start) which we want to overlay on an attractive, dynamic map. We are looking at Google maps as well as tools developed by a tech firm we are associated with called Development Seed. For starters we will have only a single value for each state, and the map will need to be color coded to indicate this value. We'll also want to overlay testing location data (which we will have). Over time we will receive more specific data for each state (so values for different items, and down to a county level in some states), so the architecture of the mapping tech will need to be scalable. The rest of the site is pretty simple at this point...we do collect minimal data from users (email and a password), only so we can email them reminders. No profiles or involved user management. We are going to hook into social networking sites (probably via RPX) in order to allow users to post updates to them.
So - we are looking for someone who can hit the ground running on this particular project on a contract basis, but if you are looking for "a job" even better - and this project should be considered a trial period (for both of us).
Hit us up if you'd like to learn more about us and the project. Thanks.
