Topics discussed:
1) Aim of our meetups - a discussion
2) An introduction to Drupal 8 (session by Anish)
3) Using Drush make (session by Anish)
4) Overriding Services (session by Magi)
5) Contributing back to Drupal - a discussion
...
So this is what we have learnt / come to after all those discussions:
Theme: Consumption to Contributing, and Beyond!
1) Aspect 01: Getting people together
- hold meetups once every month.
- bring in more people, send out early notices.
- shout out via all channels.
- collected email IDs and phone numbers.
- help everyone who attended to get on to our communication channels.
2) Aspect 02: Learning from each other
- Conduct more sessions, catering to all parts of the community.
- Drupal 8 sessions will be more useful.
-
3) Aspect 03: Contributing back to Drupal
- Conduct sessions on contributing
- Conduct sprints
4) Aspect 04: Connecting back to the larger community
- Invite people from the bigger community to join us over a video call.
- Let them know in advance
- Help people get on to drupal.org, IRC, groups.drupal.org, and interact with the community there.
5) Aspect 05: The greater good of all
- Have something to take from,
for all parts of the potential community:
-- People who haven't even heard of Drupal
-- People who are new to Drupal
-- People who are working with Drupal
-- Freelancers
-- Businesses and Organizations - are finding a shortage of Drupal talent in TVM
-- Local Bodies
-- Governments
6) Aspect 06: Sustainability
- Plan in advance, let people know in advance.
- Avoid burnouts. Delegate. Give everyone some small task in organizing the next meetup.
- Find other spaces/organizations who would be interested in hosting us.
