Drupal North Retrospective

If you went to Montreal this week for Drupal North, we'd like to hear how it went.

"Home on the Range" Using Laravel's Homestead for Drupal Development

From Homestead's introduction:

Laravel Homestead is an official, pre-packaged Vagrant box that provides you a wonderful development environment without requiring you to install PHP, a web server, and any other server software on your local machine.

In recent months, Homestead has added:

  • Support for profiling your site with xhgui to find slow code
  • Database snapshots to drastically speed up development when testing code that alters the database.
  • mDNS support, allowing automatic access to ".local" domains for sites

Andrew Berry (deviantintegral) will give a walkthrough of using Homestead for a Drupal 8 site for local development, along with details of the upcoming Homestead 9 release.
