Hi Glad to find a churches group on here,

I just wanted to introduce myself and introduce a project I am working on. well I am Craig Bertrand...and this is the project...

We (The Missions Organization I work with) are starting a Christian Collaboration Community that will have the option to host civicrm for churches and other Christian groups and we will be trying to make civicrm "just work" for churches. We figure this solution should work for churches with no techie folks, or for those who just dont want to worry about maintaining a server and drupal/civicrm core.

will work like this

domain.com ( This is where our free Christian Collaboration Community will be hosted, this is not trying to be a Myspace clone for christians but rather "Social Networking with a Purpose" revolving around community projects. For example a project could be a sunday school curriculum that all could adapt to their specific needs or anything that you could think of. ) FREE

yourchurch.domain.com ( Hosting of civicrm and all the other mods that make the first site kick so you can be effective in collaborating with your own team) NOT FREE :)

The cool thing is all the cash goes back into the kingdom! not to Microsoft or some other for profit venture.

Let Me know what you think, feature request, or join the team (more on that later)
we will be posting more info after we are out of "pre alpha"

We truly want to serve the Body so let us know how we can best serve you

Would be great to get feedback and comments on ..

the things you need to modify / tailor CiviCRM for a church distribution. There is a fair amount of interest in this and would be nice to centralize all the requirements / specs on the CiviCRM wiki. That way folks can build and share their work

I +1 this. We need to have this functionality out there for others. Like, those of us who would host something like this ourselves.

No Problem

I have set up a place holder page on the wiki at
http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/Churches

and will begin to add to it as soon as possible.

Feel free to submit your feature request or modification needs there

Hope you don't mind a little friendly competition we are just aiming at a more specifically targeted group and will be giving back to the community so in a way we are working together :)

Also CivicSpace does not provide a "Christian Collaboration Community" which is a useful feature we are going to have.

So in my opinion if you need hosted CiviCRM now use CivicSpaces They have a good service

If you would like to support a Christian Ministry and help Build a Christian Collaboration Community as Well as have hosted CiviCRM Stay Tunned

My biggest CiviCRM client is a collective of Religious non-profits. Any updates on this project?

Best,
Matt

This project is being postponed for a while (lack of funds and help)

It would be good to continue the ideas of what would be useful though.

Check out http://www.planningcenteronline.com/ for some ideas
