CiviCRM meetup in New York City ...
Kurund and Lobo will be in New York City on Dec 19th / 20th. They have a potential space near Union Square for Dec 19th that we could use if we get enough folks interested. They will tailor the session based on the needs of the folks who sign up :)
If you are interested please send Lobo an email (lobo at yahoo dot com) along with ideas on what you'd like the session to be about. They'd love to get some user feedback, comments and critique of CiviCRM. They'll spend some time explaining a few things coming in CiviCRM v2.0
We will be hosting the meetup(probably around 2 hours) on Dec 19th at 9:00 am at:
CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing)
123 4th Ave, 2nd FL
New York, NY 10003
212-677-8621
http://www.crsny.org
This is located between 12th & 13th streets, one block east of Broadway, and 1 1/2 blocks south of Union Square. The Union Square 4/5/6/N/R/Q/W/L train station is the closest subway station.

Taking the initiative
Great to see that you are taking the initiative to setting up your own events. Let us know how we can support you, besides showing up of course;)
Just marketing :-)
I'm not really setting up this event, more like marketing it :-) The CiviCRM folks themselves found and arranged for the space.
I've been keeping an eye on CiviCRM for a while, and started an implementation recently and have been hoping for a chance to go to a local CiviCRM event with any of the project's leads. I figured any other NYC locals using it would have the same thoughts. So even though I'll be out of town and can't make it, I wanted to make sure any other NYC Drupal CiviCRM users could take advantage of the opportunity.
Besides maybe I'll get lucky and someone will take great notes and let us all in on the details they give out :-)
sorry to make a post so
sorry to make a post so close to the event. but hosting an event at such an early hour is probably not going to work out. most/all of us have day jobs. usual nyc meetups happen around and after 6 PM.
9am wouldn't have been my
9am wouldn't have been my choice either, but that was the time slot they choose(had avail). Since they are in from out of town/country? and on vacation, we work with what they have available. But in my case, I was out of the city myself, so no matter what the time I still can't make it. :-( Just thought I'd get the info out in case anyone else could.
But if you are working with the package for work, hopefully they would let you go before coming into the office
