Senior Internet Engineer / Developer with leading Media Co! | The Seattle Times Company

The Seattle Times Company, with the most-visited network of local-media Web sites in the Pacific Northwest, seeks a Senior Internet Engineer to play an integral part in our continuous growth and presence in the online industry.

Responsibilities:

Use programming, scripting and database integration tools to design and develop a wide range of websites including Seattletimes.com and Nwsource.com.
Establish common gateway interfaces and/or application programming interfaces between Internet client software, Times data and other source information.
Ensure system availability for access by internal/external clients, and confirm data currency, integrity and security.
Keep abreast of on-line trends and opportunities, and develop and maintain appropriate system, design and related contacts and industry knowledge.
Participate in meetings and serve as a liaison concerning technical questions, new and existing products, procedures, and proposals with the newsroom, advertising, production, marketing and other departments.

Requirements:

5 years experience in website & software application development in a Linux environment.
5 years programming experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, PHP & other popular web languages; PERL programming helpful
Experience implementing database-driven web-based applications and with Oracle or mySQL
Clear oral / written communication skills, demonstrated ability to write & maintain technical documentation, and can translate & present technical knowledge/terms to the practical needs of system & end-users.
Ability to work effectively within a team setting for system-related decisions & other projects.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve system issues.
Knowledge of Drupal or any other CMS ideal
Bachelor or advanced degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related technical field, preferred
