GlobalVote is an innovative, internet-based democratic tool that enhances democracy through shadow voting and polling systems. GlobalVote takes advantage of the global link provided by the internet, establishing a fair and proper voting system for assessing global public opinion.
We seek a Drupal developer to help us finalize our new website, www.globalvote.mobi. The GlobalVote is currently moving from its first website www.theglobalvote.org to a newer improved version in Drupal www.globalvote.mobi . Much of the website has already been built, but we require a knowledgeable Drupal "expert" to implement our final changes and to get the website into working order for our users. Soon the old site will be merged and the voting will take place on the new site. Currently we are looking for an expert / volunteer in Drupal we can assist in merging the sites and take the vote and present per country, gender, education etc. but as well in different scenarios how possibly the world could be counted (UN veto, per world population, per region etc.). The site is built currently in ver.6.19 of Drupal with a MySQL database. Both of them are hosted on the same machine, a virtual dedicated server at godaddy.
Telecommuting is not allowed for this project. As the Developer will be required to meet the team several times at our office in New York, the Developer should be based in the NY/NJ/CT area.
Specific responsibilities include:
* Perform team guidance, training during and after our launch phase
* Assist with merging the user database from our old website, www.theglobalvote.org , to www.globalvote.mobi
-Create suitable reporting function (different scenarios and ways of presenting the vote). All of the voting results for each resolution reside in a table in the database, and the user profiles are in another table. We need a SQL DBA and a Drupal module coder to work together to generate a module which creates standard "views" which display the resolution results sliced and diced in the various ways that we want.
-Coordinate with the web-developer of the first phase and assist in completing the website where needed.
-Building in the functionality for sub-groups (I.e.Univ classes) to have their own resolutions & results. This needs to be extended so that it is scalable to many classes and easily maintained by volunteers.
-An instruction manual needs to be written so that a broader group of volunteers can maintain the site including: - adding new resolutions; - moderating forums and chat rooms; - updating partnerships / news
