The Relationship Masters Academy, an online training academy for teaching professional development based on the content of Keith Ferrazzi's 2 bestselling self-help books Who's Got Your Back and Never Eat Alone, is looking for a freelance Drupal developer to be on call for a few hours a week (about 5, sometimes more) of guaranteed, paid work.

The program is growing quickly, and we're in the process of revamping the site before we re-launch our next class on Nov. 1. The site is already live and accepting payments.

I'd like to stress that we're looking for someone ongoing, who is interested in our brand and not just to do one-off requests. Good communication skills are a must.

I developed the site entirely myself, and it uses a bunch of custom things.. But I did comment generously throughout, however, and I will be around to answer questions. The theme is entirely custom, but Zen-based. The course is a paid membership and we use Ubercart to accept payment. Payment goes through either Paypal or an Authorize.net gateway.

You should:

  • "Get" how hooks work, and have experience with them.
  • At least attempt to follow Drupal standard coding conventions.
  • Be interested in improving our product, instead of just responding to instructions.
  • Have a sense of humor.

I intend to continue doing primary new development until our budget increases, at which point, I would be happy to step out and hand the reins over to someone else. I would ideally have you doing new development initiatives for the site so you don't have to deal with my old code, as much. For instance, we're going to be adding a series of custom forms that users must fill out (and which will propagate to parts of their user profile) which is an entirely new endeavor

If you are applying for this, you should expect to also be passed a number of basic maintenance or bug-fix tasks.. For example -- though this is no longer an issue -- certain pages on the site were not displaying secondary navigation even though they should've, and I had too many planning and administrative things to do to seek out the source of that minor bug.

As I said, our budget is, currently, limited. We are interested in developers of varying skill levels (as long as you are not just starting out -- you should be able to work on your own). Because we will be committing to ongoing, guaranteed work, we hope you can be flexible with your rates - we can possibly afford $30-40 per hour. That range is negotiable depending on the right person, but we don't have too too much wiggle room. We'll probably have closer to 10 hours a week worth of work for the next couple months until we launch.

Please contact me at jobs@relationshipmastersacademy.com if you are interested - or use my contact form on this site.
