Yeah, need to get moving
I'm not sure how much of an official presence at OSCon we'd have. Personally I'd like to have an event the weekend before or after OSCon to catch anyone who's in town for it but not have to compete with the event itself.
Well....OSCON presence itself is needed, too
So, for now, Jacob and I are forming a working group to try and get presence at OSCON 2008. I'm contacting O'Reilly to see about free attendance / booth space.
If we do this, do we have the support of some locals in manning booth space?
I can help herd PDX drupalers
Tho I'm not part of Portland State any longer, maybe Bart Massey can help if we think that's an appropriate pre/post venue.
Local podspace www.cubespacepdx.com is also Drupal-friendly and might consider being a venue.
Shoutout: Matt Westgate?
How can we appropriately crosspost with the PDX drupal group?
I'll be around
Let me know if I can help with this.
Cheers,
Bill

To clarify
We're not signing up to do any extra stuff other than OSCON itself (Booth, Drupal presence there, probably an evening BoF or three -- depending on if I can still get space from O'Reilly...). It would be great if PDX wants to do something around it, but that's up to local organizers.
I'd talked biefly with
I'd talked biefly with Kieran at DrupalCon about having some type of event associated with OSCON. I got the impression that we might be able to get some support from the Association for that. As far as an OSCON presence I'd be willing to round up a few locals to man a booth. Hopefully the Association has some kind of basic booth kit (banner or signs?) that we can borrow, if not that'd probably be worth spending a little money on.
