For everyone still interested in getting together for some Drupal fun, we have arranged for a small get together where we can have some presentations, discussions, and general hacking fest. We only have room for about 40 people, so sign up quickly (on this page).

When
We will have a full day of fun on Sunday, May 18th, 2008. We will open up for registration/greetings at 9:00am and actually get things kicked off at around 9:30ish and likely finish around 5pm. We will probably move to a nearby pub to continue the socializing and for dinner/drinks.

We have secured a computer room at the University of Sydney.

What
We will have a fairly informal structure, probably somewhat like a barcamp. Which means we will try to organize most things on the day and will need your involvement. If you would like to make a presentation or have a topic for discussion, please post it as a comment to this post. We will take these presentations first when we are making the schedule on the day.

We do not have any catering for this event, and I've been advised that food outlets on campus will be closed so we will have a break to allow people to walk to something near by for lunch, but I would encourage people to bring some snacks and water.

There will be some computers available in the room, but we encourage people to bring their laptops as well. Internet access will be available, with details given out on the day.

How Much $$?
Its $0 - FREE!
The venue has been donated for free (Thanks to the Faculty of Pharmacy @ USyd) and there won't be any catered food or other schwag given out, so it only costs for people to show up and our time as organizers. If everyone can be respectful and keep things clean, hopefully we can get invited back.

Anything Else?
If there are any special needs, please email me ASAP. There should be handicap access to the building, and potentially hearing impaired services available, but I will need to confirm anything. Special dietary needs should be self catered, though if we organize any snacks it would be helpful to know of any limitations/allergies.

Presenters should preferably bring their own computer, otherwise make sure to bring it on a usb stick in a standard format. Please email me if you have any questions.

Conference Changes

We are sorry to announce that the Drupal Asia Pacific Conference and the Full Code Press website competition have been postponed to a later date.

It was our hope that we could organise the event to coincide with the Open CeBIT conference in May. However the challenges imposed by a tight deadline and the logistics of integrating with the CeBIT expo have been too much to overcome.

We are still committed to running a Drupal Asia Pacific event and a website building competition, but with greater lead-up time to plan speakers and arrange venues.

It was a difficult decision and we would like to sincerely apologise to anyone who has been inconvenienced by the cancellation.

For those that have already paid the conference fees, you will be completely refunded and should receive them shortly from our partners Hannover Fairs. You will also be granted free access to the CeBIT expo. For those that have already booked travel, we are considering having a special meetup session in the Sydney area to provide an opportunity to share the company of your fellow drupalers in an informal setting. We are also planning on providing a stand and a few sessions as part of the Open CeBIT expo.

I just received an email from Hannover Fairs saying the Drupal Conference has been cancelled. This is terrible news. I've already booked flights and what about the people coming from Asia and New Zealand. Are we getting our flights refunded?

Registration is Open!

That's right - come and get it! People watching the conference website have already found out that registrations have been opened. We're accepting session proposals and looking for the communities input. The t-shirt logo competition is open for submissions and voting as well. Once you've created an account on the website, you'll also be directed to the website where you can pay the conference fees. Ticket prices have been set at AUD$160 and we have made arrangements to offer an early-bird price of AUD$115, which is a massive discount so get in while you can! We have also posted information about the tentative program and some logistics information - particularly for any international visitors there is important visa information available. We're still working on some of the details and ironing out some kinks, but its open to the public now and we appreciate any of your feedback.

I am pleased to announce that the next large gathering of Drupalers will be held in Sydney, Australia from May 18th - 22nd 2008 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Center Darling Harbor in conjunction with the Open CeBIT expo and conference. We're inviting people from all over the region - and that means you!

The Drupal Asia Pacific Conference is a major event to gather Drupalers to learn, discuss and advance Drupal. It is also a great opportunity to network with other community members that operate in the Asia Pacific region and who may not be able to attend community events on the other side of the world.

The conference will feature dual tracks over 3 days and a single theatre over a day and half that will also be open to the broader Open CeBIT audience. We are partnering with the Joomla community to host a website building contest which will be prominently highlighted at the OpenCeBIT Conference. All attendees will be provided free entry to the CeBIT expo (20th - 22nd) and offered discounted tickets to the Open CeBIT conference. We will also be hosting a booth as part of the CeBIT Exhibition to educate and promote Drupal to businesses, government, and individual attendees of the exhibition.

The organising team is working hard to finalize conference details before opening registration and the session proposal system. We are also finalizing sponsorship benefits packages. In the mean time, start making your travel arrangements and gathering your session proposal information.
