Edgelink, an Oregon based IT Staffing agency, is currently seeking a PHP/Drupal developer for a client in Beaverton, OR (about 20 minutes outside of Portland). Our client seeks candidates for a Web/Marketing Coordinator position. The mission of our client is to achieve a better understanding of physical, chemical, and biological processes regulating river-to-ocean ecosystems.

Description:
The Coordinator will create, manage, and update the website under limited supervision. The website needs to serve as a vehicle for internal and external communications, disseminating complex scientific information and novel, interdisciplinary research. Audiences include Researchers (internal and external to our client), Educators (K-12, undergraduate, and graduate level), Students (K-12 through postgraduate), and the Community at large. Our client consists of educators, students and researchers across six academic campuses plus industry partners. The website should also consider various stakeholders, conform to any NSF requirements, and aid in outreach to other groups.

The Coordinator will generate new content by gathering text, data, images, and video from scientists, students and research staff, proactively seeking these materials as necessary. S/he may participate in lab meetings and attend weekly seminars and lectures; the position may require overnight travel to attend conferences and/or participate in research cruises on rivers and oceans. S/he should be comfortable revising existing content and designing or redesigning webpages as needed. S/he will translate complex scientific ideas into clear, scientifically informative, engaging web content.

The website is built on a Drupal framework and s/he will need to use Drupal and may need to modify Drupal themes, CSS, etc., in order to achieve a site redesign. Internal and public pages for the website exist, with much internal-only content. Coordinator will work with internal constituents on the integration of various pages, sitelets, and web applications within the site. Coordinator will revise, organize and manage overall site architecture as new content is added. Coordinator will recognize and publicize news-worthy events and create content accordingly. Our client is less than three years old and the Coordinator will play a role in developing and refining its overall "branding" identity, helping to establish standard and guidelines.

Required:
- Advanced proficiency with web design, development, programming, and maintenance.
- Experience with web information architecture design and development.
- Understanding of relational databases and web-database applications.
- Work experience with Content Management Systems (CMS).
- Solid understanding of CSS style sheets.
- Javascript knowledge.
- Experience or willingness and ability to learn Drupal.
- Experience in LAMP (Linux, Apache, mySQL and PHP) environment.
- Proficiency in essential graphic design applications including Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat.
- Web production experience creating images using Photoshop.
- Proficiency in standard office applications including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint.
- Ability to learn new programs and adapt to new technologies.
- Strong writing and editing skills for wide range of audiences.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with scientists, management, students, educators, stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.
- Self-motivated. Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong team collaboration and coordination skills, ability to direct and manage other web developers.
- Ability to develop branding, identity and style guidelines.
- Understanding of source/version control.
- Experience with a multiple-developer environment.

Preferred/Plusses:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, computer science, new media, graphic design or related field.
- Experience with Drupal including editing/installation of themes and CSS modifications.
- Fluency in Linux/Unix environment and systems administration.
- 3 years experience in Graphic/Web Design.
- 3 years experience hand coding HTML.
- Experience developing internal communications tools and procedures.
- Experience in higher education.
- Web development experience in LAMP environment, including HTML, CSS, mySQL, PHP/Perl.
- Work experience using Subversion.
- Outstanding skills in grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and writing.
- Experience with email and internet marketing.
- Web project management experience.
- Experience creating and enforcing branding, identity and style guidelines esp. for web.
- Superior interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Experience with web-database development using php, mySQL, postgreSQL.
- Experience with SEO.
- Experience with installation and interpretation of web analytics (e.g., AWStats).
- Other web programming/multimedia skills such as Perl, Python, Flash.
- Video creation and editing skills, digital photography skills.
- Understanding, experience, and interest in environmental sciences.

Schedule, Salary Range, Eligibility:
- Full-time at location in Beaverton, Oregon.
- Hours may vary depending on needs of the research.
- Possible occasional travel, occasional overnight travel for conferences or field work.
- Possible participation on research vessel(s) in river or ocean.
- Appointment renewable annually.
- U.S. citizens or permanent residents are preferred for this position due to funding sources. (No 3rd parties please)
