This is a group for all users, developers and designers interested in the Drupal Open Source CMS, who are based in South Africa. The goal of this group is to foster the local community, provide local support and to allow the local Drupal industry to grow.
There are currently monthly meetups in Johannesburg at Adcorp Holdings, 28 Sloane Street, Bryanston (first building on the left when entering at the gate) on the first Wednesday of every month, and in Cape Town on the last Tuesday of every month at the Bandwidth Barn, Block B, 3rd Floor, Woodstock Industrial Centre, 66-68 Albert Road, Woodstock. Both events start at 18:00 but please check each upcoming event to make sure of date, time and location. Currently all event announcements will be posted to this group. Visit the event page for current and past events. Please also visit the Drupal South Africa website for more on our community, and join us in #drupal-za on IRC.
Also check out (and contribute to) the wiki page Ideas for ZA User Groups which gathers all the ideas about the Drupal South Africa user groups.

Read moreOG alternatives
Hi guys
I'm looking for a simpler alternative for Organic groups.
I don't want to use OG because it is a bit overboard for what I want to do, I don't need user->group control + I need to do node access control by other means as well (which OG does not like).
I simply want to have a main page for a user, and then also maintain a relationship to the main page of the user's other nodes such as blogs, events, etc.
Obvious choice is node relations/reference, but before I jump into some custom coding, has anybody got some other ideas/modules to suggest?
Thanks

Jolie O'Dell 38 minutes ago Jolie O'Dell 8 Do Freelancers Do Best on WordPress, Drupal or Joomla?
Some very interesting stats have just emerged about the freelance and contract market for CMS developers and designers.
In its quarterly market report, freelance site DoNanza discovered that even though WordPress devs, designers and SEO pros are in greater demand than their Drupal or Joomla counterparts — and even though WordPress outnumbers Drupal and Joomla in the number of projects for each CMS — Drupal web professionals on average make around twice what WordPress pros make per project.

Live Website Development for Multotec Group
We will be creating the new Multotec Group website (Phase 1) with development starting early next week. The Design and Development Team is MediaSourceStudio out of Benoni headed by Shaun Richardson. We will send a link to the live development blog attached to the site once it's active. The idea is to post the development framework and elicit comment so that the DrupalZA community can see the site being developed as it happens.
It may be a good chance to see a site being developed from the ground up. If you would like to participate in the blog, feel free to logon next week.

I was wondering how others have setup VAT integration with their installations. The default seems to add the VAT to the total (or sell price.) Personally I just get the client to add their prices excl.vat and have drupal add it on. But then the store is advertinsing everything excl.vat, which is fine for wholesaling, but what about selling to the public?

I am looking for someone who can take over development and support of a Drupal e-commerce (Ubercart) website for a french client of mine while I am off on maternity leave (from about the end of next week until the end of the year). In general it would entail:

- Any development / tweaks she needs while I'm not available (there is a specific bit of custom development that would be required in the next few weeks involving integration with a 3rd party website)

I've suggested that they take a look at Ubercart, and we are looking for resources who have solid experience in Ubercart specifically that can initially weigh in on the planning, and then ultimately do / help do the development of the actual site.
