SxSW 2009 Panel Picker

If you haven't seen it on d.o (though you probably have), then I encourage you to check out gdemet's panel picker post. Vote for them all and lets try and increase the Drupal presence at SxSW.

I have a blast every year, and this will make it that much better.

"Official" SXSWi evening events

Panels aren't the real reason you dished out $300+ to attend SXSWi, it's the networking!

Not to mention these social gatherings usually include free food and/or booze (usually on some tech giant's dime). Here are a few you might not want to miss.

Saturday, March 8

6-11:30p | Plutopia! 8th Annual SXSW EFF-Austin Interactive Tech Gathering of the Tribes @ Scholz Garten
6-8p | Dorkbot @ Brush Square Park
6-8p | Google Party @ Light Bar
6-8p | GeekAustin Happy Hour

US patent reform and open source: Who is the best candidate for the OS community?

My friend whurley has launched an online poll to bring open source to the attention of politicians -- specifically, the presidential candidates. He, like many of us, is troubled by the recent calls for patent reform put forth by larger companies that may wind up blocking innovation and threatening open source-oriented companies and contractors.

You can view the poll here and vote for which candidate you believe is best for the open source community. (Don't worry: "None of them" is an option!)
