Theme uploads via the admin UI

Hi,

I found this group post which petered out seemingly without any resolution:
http://groups.drupal.org/node/9552

One of my clients is interested in the idea of being able to upload themes via the admin UI so they can build their own themes and deploy them, safely, without the need for FTP/SSH access to the server (and the burden of knowledge such access requires).

Is there anything like this already? I'm thinking such a module could be Drupal 6.x contrib and simply provide:

  • a permission for theme uploads

Something I learned today

· ·

While theming and developing today I switched from Firefox to Internet Explorer and found that my site had no styles! Ahhh! To save you from possible headaches, here's my finding: IE limits Drupal to 31 stylesheets total. The work-around for the bug is to enable CSS aggregation.

Many modules have their own stylesheets, so when you get to a certain number of modules, plus have your own custom theme, you reach a point like I did today where you pass the threshold. Hope this helps someone!!

Find a Better Name for "skip-navigation" Class

We need to come up with a good name for a CSS class, but I don't want this discussion to clutter up the issue queue. (Let's reserve the queue for presenting and discussing patches that fix functional or programmatic problems.) So I'm posting this item to see if we can develop an idea that is better than the ones we've already come up with.

The little CONFIGURE box that pops up

OK, for some reason, the configure 'thing' (someone give me a better word) that appears when logged in as an admin when you hover over certain objects is taking over. The block for the configure is overlapping content I need to click on! Specifically Panels.

When I say configure, let me clarify that the link will look something like this:
mysite.com/admin/build/block/configure/...

Showcasing a showcase - http://stuar.tc/lark

This is the site that I've been trying to finish for well too long, my own personal portfolio. While not an overly complicated site, every little detail had to be just right before I could confidently launch the site.

"Ultra Light" User Experience / User Interface Design & Drupal for Startups

I run a group of tech entrepreneurs called Ultra Light Startups (http://ultralightstartups.com/) and I'm interested in the use of Drupal in startups for several reasons. Many of our members' startups are either already built on Drupal or they are evaluating use of Drupal for a project. Several of our members are also active in the NYC Drupal community. Also, after hosting an event on Open Source CMS's last fall, I became convinced that Drupal was the right platform for several of my own projects, including a planned major upgrade to the Ultra Light Startups site.
