Hi!

I am glad to share with you all that we recently launched a science fiction site http://kalkion.com which runs fully on GLAMP server and is powered by Drupal. I trust this is the first science fiction site running on powerful drupal. We tested Joomla, Wordpress and many more, only Drupal came out as winner. Thanks Drupal for enabling us in achieving our dream and goal.

Hi all! I was just introduced to this group by Ken Rickard from Palantir. I posted a case study for the Saint Louis Review, a local Catholic diocesan newspaper with an audience of about 500,000 Catholics in the metro area on my website: Case Study: St. Louis Review.

Newspaper Home Page

I am looking into the options for a home page of a newspaper site. The basic design we are looking at is similar to the news.fedex.com site. This is the functionality we are looking for and haven't seen one with it. I have looked at slideshow, but it doesn't seem to be exactly what we are looking for. This also could have been custom built, but I'm not sure. I like the ability to click on a number and be taken to that article. Thanks in advance.

ProsePoint 0.07: A Drupal-based Newspaper CMS

Hi,

Just wanted to pop my head in and let everyone know of the new release of ProsePoint (www.prosepoint.org), a CMS for publishing online newspapers and magazines.

If you look closely at ProsePoint, you'll discover it's derived from Drupal. In fact, it's a Drupal distribution bundled into a single tarball for easy download. Of course, that means there's third party code in there, but it's all in the name of making life easier for end users.

Hi,

We need a pro drupal developer to build an online newspaper based on Drupal. You will be responsible for the migration of the database (currently in SQL), the definition of the suitable architecture (apache, nginx;) and the development of the site itself. The newspaper will be somewhat similar to the observer.com (also developed in drupal). The deadline's short (end of the year) so we need you to start working as soon as possible.

In a few weeks we are going to re-launch our newspaper, and the new site is based on Drupal5. We are still running the install on one of our desktop machines running Ubuntu, so the performance is not close to what we except from the final product.

It would be great if some of you could take a look at the site, and tell me your first impression.

Can anybody tell me the best themes to use for newspapers? I just created my first newspaper site at http://www.postobserver.com but I have issues with the left column loading in IE7 and IE6.

What is the best theme for newspapers?

Hi,

Just wanted to announce the availability of the first (alpha) release of ProsePoint, a newspaper content management system.

Some things to note:

ProsePoint is a distribution built on top of Drupal 6.

It is currently alpha software and this is the first release. Hence, there are most likely all sorts of bugs and design inefficiencies. Please be welcome to try it, but use at your own risk.

It has the most customisation and add-on functionality of any distribution that I know of. The eventual aim is to have everything ready to go out of the box. No more searching for extra modules or testing of combinations of modules. Just install and go!

How to build a simple multi-contributor news site

Hi James!
(This post is a reply to a question on how to build a simple multi-contributor news site, but I felt better posting thiswriteup as a new node.)

I did something like the thing you ask for a few months ago, when doing some hands-on web stuff with Swedish journalist students.
It would take some time and effort to explain everything I did in detail, but you could try the following list and ask more questions if you get stuck.
