Play the screencast now

Following on the heels of a great thread, I put together a screencast using the CCK Filefield module as a container for video media files and then applying the jQuery Media module to play back those media files in the appropriate player/method. I've been looking for a replacement for the video.module for some time and I wanted to put this recipe under a microscope. Check it out the screenie, feel free to drop me a line if you loved or hated it.

This screencast demonstrates the recipe for Imagecache and Imagefield (for CCK) to build a system for posting images on your Drupal website. This is a robust and flexible system for handling images and has a bright future with more helper modules born every day.

This micro-lesson depends on prior understanding of the CCK module and the Views module. This example uses Drupal 5 since the Image* modules for Drupal 6 are not available (yet).

Webnode understands usability and has excellent interfaces for many common website admin tasks. There are many very well done UI elements here that would work well throughout drupal core and many contrib modules, especially panels, asset, views and many others.

  1. Try a demo: http://www.webnode.com/en/demo/
  2. Click 'Website Builder' and customize your demo website

At the recent Bay Area Drupal Camp, I presented Drupal for Facebook. I built a small Facebook Application and walked through how I used Drupal to create it. Now the details of this presentation are available in two screencasts.

This is recommended viewing if you're curious what Drupal for Facebook is, or if you've downloaded it and are struggling to set it up. Read more: http://www.dave-cohen.com/node/2246

Or jump right to the videos:

I've posted an update on the SMS Framework project and a screencast on the Development Seed blog. It introduces some of the new functionality that I've implemented using the API.

Well the file is about 227MB, huge I know. I am working on a way to distribute these, will try a torrent when I get off work. Don't worry about being kind to my server the account ends in a few days, January 24th I think. The picture quality coming off VNC as well as the audio coming of Skype were so much better this time around. Once again this is a QuickTime *.Mov file, I'm sorry for any problems this may be causing some of you. Well after all of that if you still want the video you can click the link to download Lesson #3 From January 14, 2007!

I also now have just an audio file of the lesson if anyone wants this for notes and such.
