Drupal Dojo 2.0 resource board
This wiki is a centralized repository for the various plans, ideas, conversations pertaining to the Dojo 2.0 website upgrade, as well as the goals, vision, and action plans of the Dojo itself. The Project Tracker for this upgrade is here and the current priorities are here.
Getting Back In The Game, Or, zomg! josh_k does a lesson!?!?
UPDATE: Before you get too excited, I may have to postpone this. I'm feeling kinda sick, and a coughing/sneezing screencast isn't all that great. I'd still like to come up with some script ideas though. Maybe we do the video next week...
Lesson request on content editor
I would like to request a lesson where someone explains how to bring the editing of the content, styling and inserting/organizing of the images all together.
It seems like drupal is an excellent platform for programmers, but less ideal for the end users.
-Is it possible to create the customized site where a user can define the look and layout of his content and insert and control image positions easily?
-How can a user take advantage of designer defined CSS to his advantage, and maybe even define new ones?
Project proposal: Help resuscitate the Upoming.org module
UPDATE: I've cross-posted this over at Drupal Dojo since there seems to be a few folks interested in collaborating and/or learning about this project.
In checking the status of the Upcoming.org module (http://drupal.org/project/upcomingorg), I noticed some familiar names from our Los Angeles group inquiring and/or offering assistance. Being that we've discussed this type of integration for some projects (ladrupal.org, local/media portal), maybe we can help KarenS resuscitate and expand the scope of this module (integrating additional event/ticketing portals)?
The Dojo 'Upcoming Lesson' Schedule
Hey, folks. This is just a quicky-wiki to list what the upcoming topics are. As always, many thanks to our brave sensei volunteers!
Teachers, Please feel free to add your name, topic, and your available date. We don't always have lessons on Sundays, and we would encourage you to schedule something midweek, at night, or anytime that's comfortable in your part of the world. The http://drupaldojo.com site has been converted to world-time. Yeah, we're just like that. Remember to create an Event node for your lesson here on the drupal-dojo group so we can see your grinning face next to the post! Then, you'll want to read the instructions on becoming a dojo sensei.
Lesson Proposal: How to create a local test environment - June 17
Note: this lesson has been postponed due to technical problems - it is now scheduled for June 17!
OK, this has been asked for a bunch of times and is a really important step for doing development work. With code freeze approaching we would also like to get as many people helping with patch testing as possible as well. To do that you need a test site. But wait, people have different OS! What will you teach? We will cover each OS - Mac, Linux and Windows with a break between each.
Lesson Proposal: Refactoring Book.module Into a Generic Outliner
__UPDATE: Work continues on the wiki page set up for this project.
A modest proposal for this weekend's lesson.
One of the things mentioned by Dries in his "State of the Drupal" talk at OSCMS was how nice it would be if book.module would turn into a more generic outline functionality, rather than being semi-attached to a specific node type. I've had the same thought myself, and with the code-freeze for Drupal 6.0 coming up in June it's now or never to get new features in.
So I say lets do it. I'm willing to do the majority of the coding, and to package the whole experience into one or more dojo lessons. If others would like to contribute to the effort that's more than welcome. Does this sound like a good topic for at least one lesson?
Lesson Plan for How to Code a custom CCK field module
Bumped. This lesson is on-tap for the coming Sunday! --joshk
So, CCK, is the future and all, but how do we make fields do what we want them to? I mean, its no good to have an input field without validation and formatting options, is it? How does this stuff 'magically' show up in views?
Never fear, its all there, and we can go through it all step by step.
Lesson This Sunday? Throw me a topic!
So I've been thinking it might be time for me to stop being so lazy and actually teach one of these lessons again, especially now that I have a screencap stack worked out and can get a quality local capture. I've been personally leaning towards revisiting the jQuery lesson and getting good screen capture as that's where my head has been at a lot lately, but I want to make sure my lesson is useful to y'all.
Lesson Suggestion: Calendar
I write to suggest a Drupal Dojo lesson on setting up Calendar. It is a useful module and a common need, but isn't an intuitive setup "out of the box."
