I'm currently working on a project called "outline designer" for release into the Drupal community (5.x branch, out in the next few days as I'm cleaning up the initial release as we speak). What the outline designer does currently:
*Structure nodes in a book visually via drag and drop
*Right click to create, edit, delete, rename, duplicate any node of any allowed type
*Right click to change content type
*Everything is Ajax saved using standardized Drupal node_save architecture
*Ability to enable / disable the ability to create different content types

I attached a real quick and dirty mock up of possible improvements to make to the new drag and drop system that was created for D6. Having already invested sometime into making a drag and drop interface for 5 (will be released shortly) I noticed a lot of features that I included in my module that I think would be great to have as part of the core drag and drop interface. Wish-list / some things I'll be trying to throw into a patch once I figure out the drag/drop architecture :) :

Hi,
I am trying to implement a feature for users to rearrange the existing blocks on the home page (netvibes way http://www.netvibes.com/ ).
Users with any role anonymous/authentic can rearrange the blocks to customize the home page but only authentic user's customization will be saved.

Synopsis

Drupal stresses ease of use. To that end, I will be submitting an API to offer dragging, dropping, and sorting functionality to modules. This will greatly enhance not only the ease of making changes to the user interface, but also the development of associated drop and drag projects. To highlight the abilities of the API, I will also be creating a module to drag and drop blocks.

Drag-and-drop testing: interface for jQuery

I could use some excellent JS eyes to look at the right way to implement Drag-and-Drop using jQuery/Interface.

I've released a version for the MySite module (in the current HEAD release). See http://drupal.org/node/101471#comment-203584 for what I don't like about my implementation. Three points to emphasize to this audience:

1) I'd prefer to have a universal library; not one that is specific to my module. So the jQuery module http://drupal.org/project/jquery seems the right path to me.
