Thank you to everyone who helped us put this together, to the DA (cough Holly cough Steph) for the fabulous A-V equiped room they're snagging for us, to my fellow PM's for your feedback and ideas and to our presenters who generously offered to show up and do their thang!
Below is the official schedule set for Wednesday 22nd! All those looking for some awesome Project Management content are welcome to join us but it'll be first come first served regarding spots!
Wednesday May 22nd Room B110 - Forum One Communications
starting after the keynote and coffee break!
Hey guys & gals,
Thanks to XJM, my risk management chart now has some unicorn magic included, so I thought I'd share it here in case it inspires y'all to do some more risk mgmt on your projects, or to keep doing it & have a cool tool for it!
Here's a link to that document + description of how to do risk mgmt if you aren't familiar with this technique.Read more
You've probably recently gotten about 15 updates about a camp in Mumbai -- Please don't unsubscribe. This might have been because someone tagged the PM audience in his post because he wanted some organizational help.
Personally, this annoys the crap out of me, and I'm sorry if you got inundated with emails :/ I kinda went mamabear on him, and I hope it doesn't happen again.
The focus of this group should be on Project, Portfolio & other management related issues to help people work through problems, share solutions, and where possible give a Drupal perspective.Read more
Check out the 8th annual International Project Management Day!
IIL is hosting a day of webinars from some very influential leaders. I've been to some of these in the past, it's also a great opportunity to hobnob virtually with PM's.
Highly recommend if it's anything like past years!
^ UPDATE: POSTPONED TO THE 15TH
Here's an event to remind us all that the November PM meet up is on the 13th! LWinter has suggested an agenda:
20min: Demo REDMINE by Rcross!
=> overview of functionality
=> what would you change
=> what do you love
20min: Issue discussion
Choose one of these topics below for discussion, might I suggest:
=> Nightmare of the week: Someone shares a lesson learned :)
=> Timeline Derailment
- what causes it
- what are you doing about it
- how are you preventing it
Happy Monday PM's!
Which lovely soul wants to volunteer to start up a WIKI page for our bookmarks?
See ideas here under the "knowledge wiki - bookmarks" lower left corner...
Hey! PM's!! We want to get to know you!
Please feel free to share as much (or as little) information as you like, but say hi, so we can all get to know each other, and find BoFs within this niche :)
- your name
- your location
- your title/company (link if you want)
- contact info: email / twitter / irc / d.o / skype / other?
Why? It would be great to be able to say -- oh hey, there's like 10 pm's in my area, maybe we should do a meet up? Or, let's put on an awesome PM event at the next big conference -- now I can contact the ones that are interested!Read more
Tonight was the first of (hopefully) many meet ups :) We focused the meeting on brainstorming since a bunch of us were all pumped up to get this group to a new state of awesome sauce.
It was so cool to see so many new people jumping out of their chairs to get involved -- I'm really excited about this energy and I can't wait to see it keep growing!
There are a few next steps that will serve us well:
- setting up the next meeting
- taking notes on the last meeting
- talking to two PM's each of us knows to spread the word
We all have them -- places we regularly return to for information, tips, tricks, examples, documentation, news, etc etc.
I'd really love to pool our resources and start a PM bookmark library.
a) what's a good, public, sharable tool for this?
b) who's in?
c) everyone should say yes to b.
I thought this article was funny. They should've called it "Get some balls and try these things" instead, but, ya know... tomato/tomato.
