Drive to drupal camp austin

I was curious if anyone from NC / SC / East coast was interested or heading out to Drupal Camp Austin? It's only $40 to attend 2 days next weekend, but the trip is about 19 hours for us.

Would anyone be interested in saving some money and car pooling down and back? I would love to go but don't have a reliable vehicle to make the trip. I live in Asheville, NC.

Who wants to learn Drupal?

Daniel and I already have a pretty full schedule for the spring GeekAustin free classes. However, following the kerfuffle surrounding the City of Austin’s website design, quite a few folks came to us asking if there were any local resources for learning Drupal. There is at least one Austin Drupal user group, but it’s members are mostly folks who already have some facility with Drupal.

A little structure for the drupal meetups

Hi all, I think that the last few meetings have been very good, but think a little structure might make them move a little more smoothly.

I propose the following as a starting point, if people would comment, on whether or not we should do such a thing, and if so how the structure should be.

6:30 intros
6:45- 7:45 Introduction topics (For newer members of the drupal community maybe this could be done in a series)
7:45-8:00 transitions (maybe a showcase of a site?)
8:00-8:45 Advance topic (Module work / Themeing work / advanced drupal configuration)

Semantic Web and Drupal

I saw this on refresh, and people were interested in Drupal Calais last night so I am reposting it here

In addition, we will be hosting a session of where Drupal is with Semantic
Web and going with RDFa. For all you developers and designers that work with
CMS, you will defintely be interested to know that Drupal is the major CMS
that has gotten on the Semantic Web boat. Come and discover all the new
features that can be done with the new versions of Drupal. We will also have
a hands-on session of using Drupal and Open Calais to create Linked Data!
This session will take place most probably on the afternoon of Saturday
March 28.

Question about the Austin DUG meet-up

Is the DUG mainly for web developers and programmers? I'm interested in
using Drupal to build my own content sites for e-commerce. Do the members
discuss internet marketing and e-commerce? Or is it mainly the mechanics of
the Drupal platform?

Thanks,
larry

Drupalcon Washington DC March 4-7

Is anyone from Austin going to the Drupalcon in March? I've never been and wondering if I could tag along with someone or get some thoughts about it. More info at http://dc2009.drupalcon.org/

cheers
Selwyn

Code sprint for Full Node Version

Hi all, For those of you at the meeting this week that were interested in the full Node Version Module that I talked about, My old boss put it up on GitHub at
http://github.com/casefoundation/drupal-full_node_version/tree/master

I was going to set up a site with it so people could see it in action. At that point if anyone is interested maybe we could get togeather and hammer out any major issues.

For those of you who do not know what I am talking about, this is the abstract of the talk we were going to give about Full Node Version

Austin meetup...

So. I'm just throwing this out there. Looking at the members on the Austin Drupal Users Group, both here and on LinkedIN, it is very apparent that we have quite the Drupal community. Just a simple glance shows that we have a wide range of experiences and skill levels. I think this could prove valuable to all of us, both technically, and as a means of networking. It's been a while since we have had a meet up, and I simply want to query the amount of interest there is in having another one. Perhaps then we can facilitate a more active A-DUG.
