Mapping Implementation Options
Hi everyone,
I'm creating a new website aimed at listing local advertising options for small business owners. Below, I'll give a synopsis of my intended site (mapping) features, the core drupal mapping functions that I believe I'll need, and my implementation options as I see them.
My 2 questions are:
1) Am I missing anything? (Are there any core mapping functions or implementation options that I haven't thought about or that I'm just plain wrong about?)
Dynamic labeled markers on a map?
Does any one know of way to produce a map with dynamic text based markers (labeled markers)?
Here is an example of a static map that show what I would like to achieve.
That way people can just look at the map and not have to individually click on each marker to see the contents.
Thanks for your help,
-Glenn
I have used location and gmap modules to produce a mapping site before, but all the markers are all the same.
Contractor - Collaborative Journalism Site | EastBay Media
EastBay Media is looking for local, experienced Drupalers to assist in client site development under a fixed contract. The site will have a strong user collaboration component. Experience with using OG, Workflow, Actions, Views, etc. to put nodes through the wringer before publication is required. Experience with mapping is helpful, too.
The project is on a short-ish timeframe, so we could use some extra hands. Those hands should be able to communicate well and work independently.
Interested parties can contact us at drupaljob@eastbaymedia.com.
Drupal Developer | Green Map System

Vote for a Drupal Site to Win Apps for Democracy Contest!
We thought the Apps for Democracy contest was a great way to show the DC government that Drupal is the leading open source platform for government project and a great chance to get them familiar with the platform. So we built a Drupal site and entered it in the contest. You can vote for it here. You don't need to log in so it only takes three seconds to vote, but voting closes tonight at midnight, so vote soon!
The site we built is called DC Bikes and you can check it out here. It's a guide to biking in DC and puts mostly city data on a map so people find detailed bike routes in DC, monitor bike theft in real time, and buy bike equipment on Craigslist. This site is built on Drupal and is the only submission that is 100% open source - we used open source Mapnik for our maps rather than Google Maps. Specifically we used <a href="http://drupal.org/project/feedapi>FeedAPI and Feed Element Mapper for the site's aggregation, and the spaces module allowed us to build it pretty quickly.
Custom Drupal Development -Volunteer -paid contract possibility- Future employment | RideBuzz (non-profit, rideshare start-up)
As a non-profit effort, we are looking for someone that can use their drupal and custom development skills to make a real difference. It has been an exciting effort, and we have made leaps and bounds since the site launch in April. At this early stage, there is very little money to offer up for development. I am ultimately looking for people who want to see this effort succeed and will put in the extra time, but we could discuss possibilities for paid contract work, which if are working out well could evolve to be full-time positions.
Tutorials on mapping with drupal
Hi Guys
I have been trying to build a site that takes in user data through CCk fields and then displays that information on google maps . I have been using CCK, gmap, geonames, location and views modules. I have been playing around with it for the last 2 weeks and have been unsuccessful. Which has lead me onto trying to find tutorials on how somebody would put such a website together. I have searched the drupal website, mastering drupal, lullabot, youtube just about anywhere i could think of. Please if anybody knows where i could find some information, would be greatly appreciated.
CiviMap Module
Hi everyone. I just wanted to let you know that, through CTC and the help of bdragon and becw, the CiviMap Module has been released in very initial development stages.
Its simply a module that will help integrate the GMap Module and CiviCRM. CiviCRM already has some mapping features, but it is not as extensive as GMap. So one direction we are going in is to try to bring CiviCRM data towards the Drupal side and integrate it into GMap. Right now, the main feature is that this module builds KML feeds that can easily be an overlay on a GMap Macro (with the help of GMap Addons).
You can download and try it out, but it could change drastically at any moment at this point in its life, so I make no promises. What I need form you is some feedback on what you might want this module to do, and how it would most benefit the community as a whole. Thanks.
Drupal Mapping & GIS Presentations in Szeged
Hi everyone,
Bec and Bdragon submitted proposals for two Mapping/GIS events at DrupalCon Szeged - please head on over and vote!
A Roadmap for Mapping: GIS on Drupal in 2008 and Beyond! will cover the current status of GIS efforts on Drupal and the immediate plans for the most common modules: Location, Gmap, and the soon-to-be-released Geo module. This will be very similar to the well-received GIS overview session they presented in Boston.
Open Geocoding
