Support a Michigan humanitarian Drupal site
A website I have had the pleasure of working with, WillWorkForFood.org, is an international semifinalist in the Dell Social Innovation Competition with a grand price of $50,000. It is a great project that is working with Doctors Without Borders to feed malnourished children in places like Darfur. To win the competition, we need your help! Read on to find out how.
Drupal for firebug
I found this interesting and figured I would pass it along to the groups:

University of Michigan Library Chooses Drupal
The University of Michigan Library just decided to use Drupal as their new content management system. You can find a list CMS that they evaluated and the criteria that they used at http://mblog.lib.umich.edu/blt/archives/2008/07/drupal_mlibrary.html.
Pivots Module
I found this and thought it was interesting to hear. Last summer there was a DUG meeting and the pivots module was presented then(http://groups.drupal.org/node/5070). It is about a year later and is in full production live on the drupal.org website (http://mrzhou.cms.si.umich.edu/drupal-users-welcome-pivots-recommendatio...).
I e-mailed Daniel and asked if he would come present the module again at the group. Maybe everyone else should give him a nudge and let him know we may be interested in hearing about it again (daniel lives in the A2 area).
Good Luck to Mike Hofmockel!
If you weren't at the a2Drupal meeting on Monday, you missed the announcement. Mike Hofmockel and family will be moving about 500 miles away to Ames, Iowa shortly as his wife had been offered and has accepted a faculty position at Iowa State University.
Drupal 5 themes - Book review
I have posted a review of Drupal 5 Themes by Ric Shreves. It's the first book dedicated entirely to Drupal theming. We needed this.
Basically, it's great for the designer wanting to learn Drupal or the Drupal newbie wanting to get a handle on Drupal's abstracted theme layer. While it covers the fundamentals well, I never found the cool new tricks I was hoping for.
A2Drupal has a new look and feel!

p>Thanks to the new og_panels functionality added on groups.drupal.org by moshe weitzman. Josh Koenig from the Drupal Dojo has done a great screencast showing how to implement panels within groups. The og_panels module comes stock with the Organic Groups module version 5.x-6.0.
Secure pages module can seperate standard and SSL traffic
The Secure Pages module
http://drupal.org/project/securepages
A small process which will redirect the the required pages to a SSL version of the page.
So you make sure the user is running on a secure page when they are creating/editing content, viewing user details, or administering the site.
Make sure that your web server has SSL enabled and you Drupal installation has been configured to support SSL access
Packt Publishing supports A2Drupal
Check out this email I got from Packt Publishing. They asked that I review the new Drupal 5 Themes book. I agreed and asked if they would help us celebrate our groups one year birthday coming up in March with a few books as door prizes.
Views + Profile fields != User List
edit: This is only for Drupal 5. With Drupal 6 and Views 2 you can enumerate users.
Last Night at our meeting I was sure that views could not be used to create a list of users using profile fields. As to my knowledge, views is solely based on Nodes. Every view must be in context of a node.
I was proven wrong when someone quickly pulled up a views edit page and showed profile fields in the fields pull down.
