Jamaican Library Group wants training in Drupal
Greetings Drupal users,
I attended a Library technology Conference in Canada over 2 days. The conference is dubbed “Access” 2009 conference – a library technology conference focused on access issues and the technologies that provide access to information. From that conference, I realized that there are so many Canadian libraries using Drupal and doing really cool stuff with it.
I happen to be the chair of the Library and Information Association of Jamaica. We want to update our Website: http://www.liaja.org.jm/ using Drupal.

Library BoF at DrupalCamp Colorado
I just wanted to quickly recap the Library BoF that took place at DrupalCamp Colorado this past weekend. There were about 10 people interested in libraries and Drupal attending, spanning a variety of disciplines, including public, academic, and special libraries, vendors, and consultants.
Discussion centered around the following:
Chicagoland Drupal4Lib BoF (3/20) - Report
We had a wonderful turnout of close to 20 librarians from all parts of the Chicagoland area. Knowledge and skill-level ran from seasoned veterans to people being introduced to Drupal for the first time.
Integrating Drupal and iMIS: ALAconnect Case Study
Over the last year, some Drupal users have expressed interest in integrating Drupal with iMIS, a membership and financial management system used by non-profits, membership organizations, and educational institutions. We have successfully implemented a custom solution for an ongoing project that links Drupal to iMIS. The solution includes a custom module for integrating Drupal & iMIS. We plan to release this module to the Drupal community once we have completed testing, made the module more suitable for general use, and prepared detailed documentation. Since the module is not likely to be ready until Spring 2009, we felt that the Drupal and iMIS communities might benefit from a summary of our approach and progress to date.
Ideas for Drupal4Lib IG Event at ALA in Chicago?
This is still a while off but I thought I'd put out an initial request before the holidays officially begin. It's a request for ideas and suggestions for the meeting of the LITA Drupal4Lib Interest Group at the 2009 ALA Conference in Chicago.
Feel free to leave comments either here or on the LITA Blog at:

Drupal in Libraries -- from the ALA
Just saw this publication from the ALA:
http://www.techsource.ala.org/ltr/drupal-in-libraries.html
I have yet to read it, but will pick up a copy soon -- the sample of the text gives a decent idea of what the book is about.
Cheers,
Bill
Drupal and Libraries Presentation
A big thanks to all of the libraries and librarians who helped me out by talking to me about how they're using Drupal for my presentation at the Computers in Libraries conference earlier this month. It went really well, here's the prez with audio for anyone interested.
New release of Millennium module for libraries
I am proud to announce the newest version of the Millennium integration module, which crawls a Millennium WebOpac and converts MARC into Biblio nodes, adds taxonomy terms, and can show holdings information in real-time.
Check it out here: http://drupal.org/project/millennium
