Jamaican Library Group wants training in Drupal

Greetings Drupal users,

I attended a Library technology Conference in Canada over 2 days. The conference is dubbed “Access” 2009 conference – a library technology conference focused on access issues and the technologies that provide access to information. From that conference, I realized that there are so many Canadian libraries using Drupal and doing really cool stuff with it.

I happen to be the chair of the Library and Information Association of Jamaica. We want to update our Website: http://www.liaja.org.jm/ using Drupal.

Drupal Kata (our homegrown project learning program) is taking shape

Hi there -

Just to follow up for those who aren't already aware/involved (most of you), the Drupal Kata (http://drupalkata.com/) is up and running and we're starting to generate a bit of interest. That said, we're still very much in need of leaders, mentors, advisers, and apprentices in the areas of project/sprint/task management, education, business, and marketing. Developers, designers, themers, are obviously pretty key, but it helps when there are people to provide guidance.

These may be good points of entry -

Drupal aware person needed in Palo Alto! | Highly Evolved, LLC

Employment type:
Contract
Telecommute:
Allowed

I have a client in Palo Alto who has a brand new site built in Drupal. As easy as Drupal is to use, they need someone on-site to show them how to update their site. This is the perfect job for someone who wants to make a day's worth of extra money and have a small regular client to add to their collection.

Someone fairly new to Drupal would be fine, to input content is not rocket surgery, the only requirements are decent knowledge of Drupal and good communication skills.

New Zealanders Invited To Next Lullabot Online Workshop

Greetings New Zealand!

I just wanted to let you know that the next Lullabot online workshop, called "Drupal Fundamentals" has been planned at a time convenient for Kiwis to attend. We're running the workshop in the evening US time on Mondays, which works out to be Tuesday afternoon in New Zealand!

This online workshop will be happening Tuesdays at 1pm* (Auckland time) for 6 weeks starting October 13th (that's a week from today). Each class session is 2 hours long and includes question/answer time with Lullabot's experts. The price is $395USD which at the time of this writing works out to be about $540NZD.

This workshop is perfect for anyone who is new to Drupal or just wants to complete their basic Drupal knowledge. In addition to access to the live webcasts, attendees each get their own sandbox Drupal site, and access to the class message board for help and discussion.

Find out all about the workshop here.

Jeff Robbins
Lullabot

*Note: Due to the end of US daylight savings time, the class time will change from 1:00 to 2:00 in November. This means the first three classes will start at 1 and the last three will start at 2. Sorry for the inconvenience.

We're back!

A lot of good things coming together as we're pressing forward with many of the objectives laid out in the Drupal Open Learning Initiative. We can use this post to tie everything together, keep tabs on progress, and discuss how to get involved!

Looking for an introductory PHP course

Can anyone recommend an introduction to PHP course (online or in Sydney) for someone (me) who understands HTML and CSS, understands the basic concepts of relational databases (keys, normalization) and is currently bulding his first Drupal site (with CCK, Views, Token, Pathauto and many more contrib modules).

I'm not a programmer but I'd like to expand my skillset and since I'm now locked into Drupal as a platform I figure I may as well learn a bit of PHP.

Or if you think I'd be better off learning from a a book or a W3schools kind of thingy, please say so.

June Meetup Notes

It's taken me a while to clear my to-do list, but I took some detailed notes at the June Meetup and I'd like to post them here.

Also, would anyone be up for a Community Helpdesk day at CoLab this Friday during lunch?

The June Meetup was a question-and-answer, show-and-tell style gathering. Some of the names have been changed to protect the innocent.

Q: I've been seeing problems with Blueprint and the Views administrative UI, AJAX?
