Open Source Made Easy - Full Drupal Sites & Reciples Installed instantly.. and for "free"
Would you like a website as functonal as one of the top drupal newspaper sites. Would you like that for Free and deployed in 2 minutes.. Wouldn't it be nice if you could just click a button and have a full site installed .. that works.
This is what the Simple Idea makes possible
The current installation and configuration process for Drupal is a significant barrier to entry for:
- Not For Profits
- Charities
- SMEs
- Developers
Currently Drupal and other CMS are difficult to set up for end users - ie not developers.
Kendra Hub - Media Asset/Content Management, Semantic Syndication/Promotion and Commerce Tool
Rework Memetracker/CRE modules and write Profile API
[It looks like I'm a bit late to the party :) But please, anyone who is interested in this functionality, review and rate this project so it'll be ready to roll come next spring. . . thanks!]
All organizations, large and small, have a vital need to deliver relevant and timely information to its members. My project will be to make it possible for organizations to easily meet this need. I will improve two Drupal modules, write a new module, and write documentation so that organizations can easily add sophisticated news aggregation and recommendation tools into their Drupal website.
Call for help.. with unique website deployment solution. - OpenSourceMadeEasy
i know that we have missed the deadline for 2008, but i'd still like to discuss something we've been working on quietly for the last year, in summary.. it lets anyone - especially the non-technical - role out websites, template those websites and again roll them out. they can be rolled out by others as well..
conceptually this will allow for
1) building of really rich templates - imagine the drupal.org site .. as a fully featured site.. as a template
2) templates can include content, tags etc..
3) installing a template site.. currently takes.. c. 1min.. seriously

Sustainable Development, Installation and Maintenance through Open Contributions
Proposal
We propose a sustainable solution for Development, Installation and Maintenance of Content Management Systems through Open Contributions. Specifically, this proposal is for building a module for the Drupal Platform called Open Contributions.
Overview
Instead or charging Universities for the installation of a CMS upfront, and monthly payments for maintenance, we propose another model:
Decisionmaking API & Consensus Module
Edit, October 2 -- This proposal has been passed along to the Knight Foundation for consideration -- http://drupal.org/node/316407 End Edit
Proposal Overview
This project aims to create and implement a flexible framework for group decisionmaking processes. The proposal has two technical components and one implementation component.
Technical components
- Creation of a Decisionmaking API, an abstracted, pluggable system designed to manage any form of group decisionmaking.
- Implement the Decisionmaking API by creating a Consensus module, which will model the formal consensus decisionmaking process.
Implementation component
- Formal consensus is an intricate process, and is difficult to successfully execute even when in person. Inculcating software with best practices developed over decades by consensus practitioners will require its own, unique testbed. We'll provide such a testbed, and report back to Knight/the community on it.
Drupal Learning Resource Center
Edit 2 October 2008 -- this proposal is on hold until it can be clarified with regard to the questions below. End Edit
The Drupal Learning Resource Center (DLRC) will be a vibrant hub of information and exchange of ideas about Drupal.
There are two main goals of the Drupal Learning Resource Center (DLRC).
The first immediate goal is to create a freely distributed, open source digital publishing platform for teaching and learning about Drupal. The goal is to make Drupal accessible and easy to learn for individuals at all levels.
